It's like new. I guess I'll have to start playing games now, does Solitaire support joysticks?

I think they've been making this exact model for like twenty years.

Sweet, it feels like a good design. It's clean and unmarked and no finger cheese or palm grease anywhere.

Finger cheese? Like string cheese? In the shape of a finger? Don't steal my idea!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Hmm, if it's stringy some other organ is involved...

Elite dangerous is also a great game I use it with. Double it with VR for maximum effect

That would be a game I would consider getting. I played the original Elite on my C64 back then...

I need a separate throttle to feel fully at peace, but I absolutely did find this exact joystick to play elite with while traveling. It's pretty solid with enough buttons to get by.

Wow I was at a thrift store today and saw one as well. Much dirtier though.

I do get lucky regularly, sadly only in thrift stores, not in the other sense of the expression...

You should give MS Flight Sim 2000 a go with it. Total upgrade to the game, for 14 year old me.

Just be careful, it's a slippery slope. Before you know it you'll be taking a second mortage for HOTAS, instrument panels and DCS planes. I guess in a way I can thank this specific stick for financially ruining me... On second thought maybe just return it to the store.

Ah I did pick up a Flight Simulator X box on a previous thrift run, maybe I can try installing it on my Value Village HP Core I5 I picked up a few weeks ago.

I won't be going full sim, but I did recently acquire a virpil set... Kind of sad that there's no step in between the x-52/t-1600 and enthusiast gear, but honestly no regrets. Warbrd base with Cosmo cams is DELIGHTFUL.

I've hear only good things about virpil, they seem great. I have older VKB but it's trucking. YUP no regrets. Much cheaper than maintaining a plane, lot easier and convenient to sim haha

I am pretty sure that minesweeper supports them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

I've still got mine, it's probably 15 years old at this point

It's not really nice for a joystick, it has awful interpolation compared to a similar price range. Over here they go for double that price used though. Better than no joystick of course, but if you find it that you cannot do small movements accurately, it's not you, it is the joystick.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't know what that means. I went here

https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad

and after playing with the stick for a while ... it's a joystick.

What should I look for? Keep in mind I am not a gamer, and this is my first joystick like, in decades. The last time I played games my joystick was this

Check this vid. Specifically the end, where he shows the direct data from the joysticks. It's extremely jittery, and it is hard to put in full stick in either direction because the little rubber at the bottom will fight you. Again, it's not like it's terrible / trash, just worse than the altenatives and can mess with your aim. It did for me in Elite Dangerous, I had to switch away from very precise weapons because I was unable to keep them aimed properly. Like, if jumped and not adjusted it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I see but the test I did with that site showed no jitter. But I agree on the rubber boot, it's oddly shaped for sure. Oh well.

It's there on every model, just the quirk of the joystick.
