Literally the reason presidents are supposed to divest is to stop other countries from applying political pressure like this...

So yeah, do it.

Fuck over any corp backing trump.

You know what, let's not let patriotism get in the way of common sense politics. We shouldn't be targeting them just because they back Trump.

We should be targeting them because they are billionaires. That's enough, regardless of who they support.

To quote Bill Burr: ‘These fucking billionaires. They need to be put down. You know, like fucking rabid dogs. They’re rabid with fucking greed and just going out and just dividing everybody.’

Make billionaires millionnaires again.

Sure, but targeting them because of their threat to our sovereignty is still a valid reason to do so.

Anything Canada can do to directly impose sanctions on our own domestic (and foreign) oligarchical enemies is welcome.

We should also make CPP and the Ontario teachers union pension invest ethically in Canadian businesses.

That’s way better than the simple blue-red state counter tariff strategy. We should keep focusing on republican state but these only have powers every two years under a fair election process and can be less effective with propaganda.

Billionaires will react to any situation under a three months period and won’t be as much prone to information manipulation. They will find ways to have the ears of the king

100% tariff on Teslas for a start.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tariff? Simply ban their import.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

Yeah, let's not even screw around. Ban them all and take all their assets, IP, chargers, anything remotely valuable in this country.

Let's not even play around. They're trying to take over the country.

What was the result of the announcement to rescind Musk's Canadian citizenship? I saw the first stories about it, but nothing since, I'd say that successfully removing the legal citizenship of someone directly and ardently working counter to Canada's national interests should count as sanction, no?

No legal pathway to revoke his Canadian citizenship without opening a way to disenfranchise Canadians.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

This is true, which I'd assumed was the reason that I heard talk of limits to its scope, specifically concerning sedition or actions which ran counter to the national interest/security. Bit of a Pandora's Box though, absolutely.

I propose the 'forfeit your citizenship if you and your grandfather are nazis' bill.

certainly and sounds like they were doing that. I mean I hope when they kicked tesla out of incentives it did not aptera.
