Summary

Trump nominated conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III as ambassador to South Africa, sparking controversy due to Bozell’s past opposition to the anti-apartheid African National Congress (ANC).

In 1987, Bozell’s group joined a coalition against ANC “terrorism,” opposing militant resistance to apartheid and discouraging diplomatic meetings with ANC leader Oliver Tambo.

Bozell also criticized Nelson Mandela, calling coverage of his legacy overly positive.

The nomination comes amid strained US-South Africa relations, with Trump recently halting aid over alleged mistreatment of the white minority.

Of course he does. The president literally benefitted directly from Apartheid and feels personally attacked by the reforms around it.

That's just what ghouls look like. Try not to judge any harder than he judges people.

Didn't most Republicans at the time oppose Mandela and support apartheid? That is the way I remember it.

Yea, just like they oppose Gaza and support Israel’s apartheid

Crying antisemitism is the perfect cover for a fascist.

If anyone would have asked "what type of person did Trump appoint to be the South African ambassador, 10 of 10 Lemmy users would have said "some guy who tried to stop the fight against apartheid"

This dude isn't just White, he's translucent. Light passes through his epidermis, reflects from his dermis, and we're literally seeing inside his body. That pink we see is his meat showing through.

The other day I saw an interview with a sociopath (with a PhD in psychology) who said that doing things she explicitly wasn't supposed to do brought her relief from her inner tension. Most of Trump's political appointments remind me of this. It's like he's doing this shit for the sole reason that everybody keeps telling him not to.

Why do white supremecists always look like smeared dog shit?

This guy thinks his genes are superior... and he's the kind of person you let take the elevator by himself. "Nah, I'll take the next one"

He certainly looks like he's overindulged in something, be it alcohol, sodium, sun or exertion.

I'd seen the headlines, but most — like TPM's — haven't included the name Brent Bozell. He's quite reprehensible, even by Trump standards. Young folks might need an introduction.

It’s like playing connect the dots where they did a poor job erasing the lines.

So he's sending Elon?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

Of course he did. If you're a morally bankrupt piece of human trash, you have a place in Trump's administration
