Feel safe? ~~You think Apple is targeting them?~~

EDIT: not the case for all we know, situation seems to be complex and they don't want speculation

If you think you know what happened or the context, you probably don't. Please don't make assumptions. Thank you.

I dont know anything at all, thats why i am asking. Apple not being fan of Foss on their devices was just the first thing that comes to mind.

EDIT: Just saw you quoted them, nvm, thanks for the relay

Well, Apple aren’t Boeing.

I would like to think that the days of Steve Jobs storming into a meeting and firing everyone are past us.

~~I believe this statement is a protest about apple following the current trend of oligarchy brown-nosing the musk/trump administration and reversing all inclusive and diversity programmes, supports and policies.~~

Edit: seems to be more about harassment

It's cute to see the massive amount of "take care of yourself! Your health is more important than work!" on Mastodon, but I feel it is completely beside the point.

I bought my m mac because of the Asahi project ; I wouldn't buy it today because of ~~apple current stance~~ gulf of what exactly?

[-] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

I don't buy shit based on a promise or expectation. I buy it based on what it is for me now. It's the same reason I don't pre-order games.

Where has Apple reversed there diversity programmes. As far as I have heard them and Costco are some of the only companies that didn't.

You are right and I am wrong ; I guess I jumped too fast after the gulf of america thing.

From what I know it's the people who are using asahi linux in general and it's drivers.

Heard he got sent death threats.

An obviously talented programmer is no longer working on a free project that very few people can meaningfully contribute to - that is a shame.

I can't even get myself to learn rust, let alone make a GPU driver while reverse engineering blackbox hardware.

It seems Phoronix account-walled the comments section. Hmm.

[-] [email protected] 39 points 3 months ago

Holy shit, for phoronix to actually lock the comments for once it must have been dire

[-] [email protected] 26 points 3 months ago

Yeah it was terrible, he should have walled it earlier than he did.

[-] [email protected] 9 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I can only guess. People really act terrible sometimes.

[-] [email protected] 6 points 3 months ago

Do you blame them for that considering the shit that's hurled at Hector and Lina?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Actually haven't seen the comments myself but I can guess at this point. Maybe he should've completely disable it for the article.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
