Digimon World, with a guide and a ROMhack for emulator that fixes some of the issues

It's a very charming PS1 game and really unique but some of the obtuse digivolution requirements are a pain and it's pretty janky at times

There's a reason everyone got the doodoomon evolution as a kid playing it for the first time (buy portable toilets for your mon)

DW3 is enjoyable too imo but it's basically a grindy SNES era JRPG instead of a real time monster raiser RPG like DW1 but the sprite work is gorgeous imo and it has a lot of the mons from the second and third series (DW1 just has first series)

Idk if there are romhacks for 3 that fix the grinding but I'd look into that, I enjoyed those as a kid

(2 is a dungeon crawler? I rented it once as a kid and bounced off it hard and was really disappointed)
