They were lead-ers
I also believe the Scarecrow's costume was woven asbestos, as was the bristle part of the wicked witches broom.
Lead paint on Tin Man, too.
IDK about this, but the Tin Man that's in the movie was the second choice for actor. The first one almost died from the aluminum powder that was in the paint. The Wicked witch's paint was copper based, so she was on a liquid diet the whole time. She also burned the shit out of herself during that first scene with the smoke and fire. Then of course Judy Garland was given all sorts of shit to fuck her up.
Thank you! This is what I was trying to remember!

Aspestose?
Yes.
:(
Lead aspestose.
I can't believe this is real how did they not puke
They were harder people back then.
I don't know... Can someone tell me? 👀
"fake snow" was asbestos flakes for a long time.
But, as much as it's joked about, large flake asbestos isn't generally going to be a problem. It's a problem when you drill/grind/pulverize into a dust (friable) and inhale it.
That said, if you inherited xmas/winter decorations that has fake snow on it, I'd recommend you get rid of that in a safe way.
Oh jeez, yes sorry, I'm not saying we should bring them back! Just that it wasn't deadly to the touch, etc.
Asbestos should definitely be removed from our surroundings.
Asbestos snow.
Correct!
Wasn’t the tin man’s body paint super cancerous as well?
Yes
And the green makeup was giving chemical burn
oh how fun
You don't even wanna know about the flying monkeys. Suffice to say, California condors are now endangered, and the monkeys have a fear of staple guns.
They're barely above the condor minimum :(
It was aluminum paint, and made the 1st tin man very sick, so sick they almost died.
They used soap bubbles for snow in “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Just watched a video about this that was interesting
And they lived happily ever after.
In a farm upstate, really nice area.
