I tried not to make rules for this community but y'all wylin'. I'll keep it quick and to the point:
Mildly biased headlines and articles are fine, but please do not share opinion pieces or strongly slanted articles here.
Reporting content that does not break those rules prohibited.
Baiting and drama farming is prohibited. If you're not sure whether or not you're in this category, ask yourself if what you're about to post or comment adds to the discussion of the topic at hand, or if you are trying to get a rise out of someone, make bad-faith accusations against one's character, etc. There's some leeway here because I have a sense of humor though, so don't let this rule scare you.
Should we even act surprised that this sort of thing only seems to happen regularly to people of color?
I can't watch the video that the department uploaded to Facebook since I don't have a Meta account (ridiculous by the way that they use a closed, insecure platform as their way of "public disclosure") but I'm willing to bet the other woman they just let leave with a ticket was white. I'll reply with a surprised Pikachu face if someone is able to verify that.
This probably has nothing to do with race. I've seen a bunch of videos of similar things happening to white people. And the other woman was actually a person of color.
As an okc resident, I can say they will do this to literally anyone person no matter their color. They are a shady corrupt police organization and you are never i mean never allowed to explain yourself. They are correct, you are wrong.
Though I will say poc almost certainly get police brutality way more often here in okc, these pigs don't discriminate when given the chance to use violence
