Venting about Trump (lemmy.world)
submitted 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I'm going to start by saying I've become more of a commenter than a poster on Lemmy but, the election has gotten me fucking heated for obvious reasons.

I want to preface this by saying I don't mean this as an "all is lost" doom and gloom post, but it's the number one thing that has been on my mind in recent days reading headlines and even comments all over Lemmy regarding various ways people are attempting or planning to attempt to resist Trump.

  • "But XYZ is illegal!?" Followed usually by some citation of a law showing that Trump's plan A or B are technically against the law, be it military deployment, or firing of Federal employees etc.

Y'all, get this through your heads. They have the POTUS, the Senate, the House, the SCOTUS. It's over for "precedent". It doesn't matter what the law says. Trump can now do LITERALLY anything he wants and all the other branches will fall in line and MAKE IT legal or otherwise wave the illegality away.

  • "But this program has already been signed off on by Biden"

This means nothing. On January 6th it WILL be cancelled immediately. No program is outside the reach of Trump now. No amount of studies or research or anything will do a damn thing to stop this.

This, in my opinion, extends to Aide to Ukraine or Palestine or Taiwan. ANYTHING that has not physically left the country and already been handed to the country in question, by January 6th, will be completely within his power to drop. It does not matter if we have a treaty, or an agreement, or a contract.

  • My last vent is directed towards the far left .ml people around here.

I'm so fucking tired of your holier than thou attitudes. Some of you come into the comments on .world and other instances and act like you're part of some club that has a plan for your far left ideals and you're somehow going to be immune to all of this and you're just sitting back and watching it all burn.

Get this straight. You will be first.

In times of far right take over and violence, they don't go after the peaceful first. They go after the agitators, they go after the armed and ready agents of chaos, they go after any they deem a danger to their ideology and YOU are the biggest target. So laugh while you can but, to all of you that find this election turn out just SO funny and promoted all your Jill Stein or whatever third party bullshit. To you, a sincere Fuck. You.

For a good 15 years I have been yelling from the rooftops that America was reaching a breaking point. That it was going to improve and break towards socialism or get worse and break towards fascism. I didn't know which as there was no way to account for all the variables. But I knew it would break one way or the other.

Now I know. I have my answer. I'm not smug about it. Its pretty fucking depressing actually. But it's done. And it wont be stopped. Might slow it down. But the dems have been playing against an ever increasingly stacked deck since the Reagan Administration. Disinsentivizing education, anti-intellectualism, grievance politics, outright lies dressed up as "entertainment" and more.

The Republicans played a long game to engineer this coup that virtually nobody saw coming. Not even they themselves. But now that they have it they will play it to the hilt and twist the blade once driven home. Meanwhile the Democrats have abandoned working people. This began before Reagan btw. When they sold out Labor in the 70s. Since then they've become a rich man's party. Leadership is all billionaires and soon to be billionaires. They're comfortable with the same oligarchs that the GOP answers to. That venn diagram is pert-near a circle. Their actions and policies reflect that primarily in their delusion about US politics. They're so caught up in rules and norms and respectability that they never saw the knife. Had no idea. Now they're reeling. But I don't expect them to learn anything from this. That's not their way. They seem to embody the definition of insanity in that regard. As this is hardly the first time that running to the right has lost them almost everything. The "Schumer Strategy" - “for every blue-collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia, and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin.” - has proven time and again to be a resounding failure.

That isn't to say that a hard turn into economic populism is the magic bullet that will save the country. I personally believe it's too far gone. It may flounder on a few more cycles. Maybe a generation. But no one can deny that we are an empire in decline. We have hemorrhaged standing and respect across the world for decades now. Beginning with Bush's War on Peace in the Middle East. Now with our absolute refusal to put a stop to a genocide that all 8,187,000,000 humans on this planet can see happening live on their phones. Because "American Interests" in the region demand we not only allow it but enable it at every opportunity. Our economic warmongering necessitated the creation of BRICS. Which will supplant us in time. More countries are joining all the time, and more of those countries are dropping the Dollar for trade. Of course in western media its all roses and sweet tea. They'll never admit how bleak things truly are. This empire is going down. All of us? We're just home. I have no expectations of surviving it. And no desire to fight through an apocalypse. Be that societal collapse or climate catastrophe. Or maybe I'm full of shit, the Dems pull a coup of their own in the midterms and save the goddamn day. Big damn heroes style. Who knows?

So you think we can't stop it, don't even try? Such a hopeless attitude.

The Republicans played a long game to engineer this coup that virtually nobody saw coming. Not even they themselves.

They still don't see it. It was planned in November 2012:

"For four years and two days .. it was necessary to get to everyone in the brain and grab all possible means of mass perception of reality. Ensure the victory of Donald in the election of the US President. Then create a political alliance between the United States, France, Russia (and a number of other states) and establish a new world order. Our idea was insane, but realizable."

"Donald decided to invite for this task — the special scientific department of the “Cambridge University.” British scientists from Cambridge Analytica suggested making 5,000 existing human psychotypes — the “ideal image” of a possible Trump supporter. Then .. put this image back on all psychotypes and thus pick up a universal key to anyone and everyone. Then it was only necessary to upload this data to information flows and social networks."

The Republicans played a long game to engineer this coup that virtually nobody saw coming. Not even they themselves.

Americans lost a war to Russia and 100% of the population doesn't even realize it. They are so busy with American on American hate (that the 5,000 alternate reality screen games cultivate), that they are entirely unable to go to the public library and get books on cult deprogramming and media ecology to defend their nation.

The Republicans aren't winning anything. Americans are self-destructing the USA with Hate Harder attitudes and self-harm.

After Bush's foreverwar and decades of being lied to about policy I want. That I was baited with in order to gain my vote, (Universal Healthcare if you're curious) I don't want us to win. If we can't at minimum have things that developed countries take for granted I don't want the US to continue. 800+ military bases. Sanctions on most of the world, which in itself is just economic warfare. So its just more war. We provide almost nothing that someone else doesn't make both better and cheaper. Unless you count undeserved ego. We are the undisputed world champs at undeserved ego. We've been huffing our own farts since the Soviets won WWII for us. I mean, the math is easy. It's a classic trolley problem. 350,000,000 vs 8,000,000,000. Don't even have to think about it.

And its not like our fall was unexpected. At least not in the circles I run in. (Broke mfers) We could see obvious shit like how infinite growth + finite resources = inevitable collapse. How scarcity is engineered to maintain the systems of capital and control. We could feed the planet with 2 midwestern states worth of hydroponic farms. Could have it built and operational before the next election. But to even suggest such a thing is the very height of lunacy. Just over the hill and through the woods into new and unknown lands of just snake-fuckingly crazy. Yeah we've limped along for a while. Shambling from one "correction" to the next. Don't know how old you are but that wasn't a thing that happened every 6-8 years before like 2000. This whole thing is over. We still feel the momentum because it takes a while for something this big to wind down. But make no mistake it is done. Middle class is history. We have rich mfers so obscenely wealthy that by the time they find a way to spend all the money they have on today's date their descendants will refer to us modern humans as primitive monkeys. If our avarice lets the human race survive that long. If we don't snuff ourselves in one pointless war or another. AI is wiping out entire industries. And there are no guardrails. No regulations. Nary a thought to what that landscape is going to look like in a year or two. You seen Google's new Veo 3? In a couple weeks your grandma is gonna see a newscaster on FB that is a flawless AI generation indistinguishable from a flesh and blood human. And its going to tell her some shit like "Scientists discover a signal from Heaven and Jesus is quoted as saying President Donald Trump is my avatar on earth until I come back" and she'll believe it. Because why wouldn't she? They've been trained to believe that all reputable news is fake and absolute horse shit is the secret truth only known to them and their friends.

There's a chance that we can throw off the yoke once things get bad enough for us soft, comfortable americans to get mad enough to do something real. And that time is coming. It is definitely swelling now. You see stuff like Luigi. A ceo got capped and the nation cheered. A distraught father avenged his son by turning a member of the enforcement arm of capital into fender ketchup, and the nation cheered. People are getting angrier. Can't afford a home. Can barely feed ourselves. Retirement is a really funny joke. 401ks were a bandaid to cover the wound left behind by the end of pensions. And now they're useless too. People are "retiring" now and don't have nearly enough to retire on in modern day america. Long story short. The "American Dream" is dead and buried. A house, a car, 2.5 kids, white picket fence. They don't exist anymore. Private Equity bought up all the houses. Kids are too expensive. The picket fence is an HOA violation.

Every single jot of the social contract that made this giant ponzi scheme we call The United States function has been systematically destroyed. We're staring down the barrel of climate catastrophe. Can't make a living. Can't afford kids. People either see no future or a future so bleak that the idea of bringing a child into it is a cruelty beyond description.

So no. I'm not interested in preserving this failed experiment. Not without some pretty radical changes within the next decade or so.

Nothing you describe is unique about human behavior throughout history in regards to domination of kings and warlords.

In the message you just replied to, I quoted:

“Donald decided to invite for this task — the special scientific department of the “Cambridge University.” British scientists from Cambridge Analytica suggested making 5,000 existing human psychotypes — the “ideal image” of a possible Trump supporter. Then … put this image back on all psychotypes and thus pick up a universal key to anyone and everyone. Then it was only necessary to upload this data to information flows and social networks.”

That is what is new. Lemmy and Twitter are what is new here. the population of the Earth, airports, and the ability to have 5,000 channels of fiction are what is new. Technology created by non-politicians is what is new.

The “American Dream” is dead and buried. A house, a car, 2.5 kids, white picket fence. They don’t exist anymore.

Exactly what time period do you think those existed at all? I'm GenerationX born in 1969 and I had it (I'm 3rd child, parents were middle class)... but I think that only lasted from 1950 to 1990. And frankly, people who lived in downtown New York City in any time period didn't live that way.

"The American Dream" is the www.GreatSealUSA.com - also on Lemmy [email protected]

And what I see in May 2025 is Lemmy users who refuse to be serious and exit the 5,000 Cambridge Analytica screen games of "hate harder' (which mentioned in the message you replied to).

Let me be ultra blunt:

  • The Church was simulacra book alternate reality games in 1955 USA - The Bible was the script for the alternate-reality USA screen game.

  • Today in 2025 it is Lemmy, alternate-reality Cambridge Analytica screen games.

We are still not living in real reality, which was what the nation was founded on and defined by the www.GreatSealUSA.com

This is a global problem. I have also lived in Chile in South America, in Algeria in North Africa, in Jordan in Middle East, in Malaysia and Indonesia - and they aren't living in scientific reality either.

Carl Sagan in 1994 and 1995 spelled out how we would be living in 2025 if we continued to abandon science thinking.

I think we live in entertainment thinking. Fiction Lemmy, fiction Fox News, fiction Twitter, etc. Just as Carl Sagan said in his 1995 book.

“Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance. As I write, the number-one videocassette rental in America is the movie Dumb and Dumber. “Beavis and Butthead” remain popular (and influential) with young TV viewers. The plain lesson is that study and learning—not just of science, but of anything—are avoidable, even undesirable.” ― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, 1995

The “American Dream” is dead and buried. A house, a car, 2.5 kids, white picket fence. They don’t exist anymore.

That was a TV show called "leave it to Beaver", a fiction TV show. And people still live in fiction dreams. Donald Trump is a fiction storyteller and people on Lemmy are not discussing reality itself, only reacting with popcorn to the fiction. That's what Carl Sagan was spelling out in his 1995 book, we were building fiction again, to live in "American Dream" of living in anti-science thinking, fiction films and TV show thinking. Donald Trump "The Apprentice" reality Twitter show of White House Tweeting.

Dude…What the fuck are you talking about?

I’m talking about how this country is fuckin’ cooked.

Maybe we should try to change things so Red and Blue and Green don't control everything. How about "We The People"?

Get a therapist.

I have. how does it address mass dehumanization and people who love machines and dehumanize people with hate messages like you are doing right now on Lemmy computers?

What's your name? My name is Stephen Alfred Gutknecht ?

Get a therapist.

it's such a popular 3-word Twitter kind of year 2024 and year 2025 Elon Musk style answer to complex problems.

Do you think "Get a private therapist" fixes things for people living in Russia and Ukraine in year 2024? People living in Palestine in year 2024? Have you never studied the "Mass Man" (Marshall McLuhan terms) of media ecology and society-wide issues?
