I love the Cure! Should really give Tool some time...
Band-Maid.
I'll assume a lot of people are unfamiliar, so for a sample, try Dice, From Now On (it's a instrumental track), or for their more punk-y era, Choose Me, Alone...
They have a really wide reportoire, style wise. As someone who used to listen to the usual suspects of punk/rock in the early 2000s, Band-Maid is now my favorite band.
- Pink Floyd
- Led Zeppelin
- Muse
- Rob Zombie
- Yes
Pretty astonished to see anyone list Zappa, considering most people I have seen in other places posting on these kinds of questions either don't even know who he is or they just say they hate him. Have also seen a lot of Tool hate elsewhere which always baffles me, so I guess I am in the right place. 😊
Aside from the above, I guess there would be a lot more to list but some other of my most favourites include:
David Bowie, Small Faces, The Stooges, Lou Reed, The Doors, Roxy Music, T-Rex, The Kinks, The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, The Fall, The Jam, Buzzcocks, Blondie, Heart, Joy Division, The Cure, The Specials, Madness, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Curtis Mayfield, Eric Burdon and War, Humble Pie, Faces, The Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Paul Weller, Tom Petty, SoS Band, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Pixies, No Doubt, Moby, The Crystal Method, Sounds From the Ground, Thievery Corporation, Faithless.
edit: I suppose technically, these are not all "rock" bands. Apologies for the cross genres.
Bands that have one point or another been played on repeat depending on the album.
The Almighty
Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Pearl Jam
Puscifer
Cult of Luna

Iron Maiden.
Radiohead! Proceed with caution, not all of their albums are rock music.
I'm one of the weirdos buying into the hype of black midi, BCNR and Squid as well. Give them a shot. black midi is probably the most experimental of the bunch.
There's also Interpol, Arcade Fire, The National: the usual suspects. Dismemberment Plan, The Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree. Some more recent indie rock: Pinegrove, Hop Along, Indigo de Souza.
Your mileage may vary, of course, but they're some of my favorites.
My tastes are a bit all over the place but I find myself listening to these heavily lately:
- Sword II
- Black Country, New Road
- Coaltar of the Deepers
- Weatherday
- Guitar Fight from Fooly Cooly
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
A great jazz, psych rock, thrash metal, psych pop, garage rock, microtonal, folk rock, spoken word, surf rock band.
Nonagon Infinity is such a well executed idea. It's my favorite of theirs just for the concept alone.
Well we have lots of bands in common. AM are my favorite band, Cage The Elephant are a must, Strokes and Black Keys from time to time. I would just add MUSE in generale and The Beatles for the recent period of time
What did you think about The Car? I personally loved it. There'd Better Be A Mirrorball might be one of my favorite songs of them ever.
Yes me too! I see it as an improved version of TBHC, some kind of mix between it and AM. My fave in this period is Body Paint, it's just the right mix of energy and relax
