Been learning more about Korea through Blowback S3 and it is heavy, learning about the Japanese colonial occupation, subsequent US occupation (which is still ongoing) and like Jeju island, how it got targeted with anti-communist violence in spite of even US forces at some point labeling it as communal and not explicitly communist in the way we would think of it politically; and when its people resisted, they were labeled communist, allusions made to support from the Soviets (which were not backed up and just taken at face value - you can see shades of this sort of thing still today, like the recent claim of DPRK forces supporting Russia in battle).

I also see shades of Palestine in it. Though it's not exactly the same, the brutal treatment of any resistance, the calling resistance terrorists in certain contexts (like in what happened with Jeju island). Much the same brutal colonial violence on repeat, with some of the specifics changed to maximize control over whatever the specific region is. It was really getting to me with Jeju island, with how peaceful and communal they were, and were targeted anyway because they were, from what I can gather about the occupation motives and the Korean collaborators with it, too independent and too much representative of a self-determining Korea. And it makes me think of how the indigenous were treated in order to construct the US, the sheer scope of violence across the world as part of colonizing and empire, so much of which is not in the distant past and the institutions who perpetuated it have not even been dismantled or brought to justice. And then these same institutions have the gall to call themselves "freedom" and "democracy".

Dark humor side note: I guess this shit is really getting into my head cause I was looking at a video I had bookmarked to help with learning Chinese and the title is "Learn Occupations in Mandarin" and I bet you can guess where my mind went for a split second, the other meaning of occupation. Like could you imagine if there was a video for learning English and it was like "Learn English Occupations", really could go either way what meaning of the word it turns out to be. "We talking British here or just English-speaking?"

I've come to the conclusion that the reason conservatives and MAGAs are so convinced that Kamala and Biden are pro-Hamas despite clearly being Israel's biggest backers is because they think that even entertaining the idea of a ceasefire is the equivalent of telling those "rotten terrorists" to do it all again.

the only differences between Biden, Harris, and Trump on Gaza is domestic messaging strategy. They're 100% agreed that the policy of the United States government will be to continue colonization of west Asia and to exterminate any indigenous population that interferes with extracting wealth from the region. the differences in their messaging aimed at imperial citizens is totally divorced from what they actually believe or intend to do: it's just a short-term disagreement about which series of magic words will most effectively pacify domestic unrest so the government can get back to the bipartisan national mission of exterminating and expropriating.

Trump doesn't believe Biden and Harris "support Hamas", he just believes saying those words in that order will best pacify domestic unrest by inciting violent crackdowns against it. Harris doesn't entertain the idea of a "ceasefire" now any more than she did when she was explicitly condemning the people calling for it, she just believes that saying the right words in the right order will cause enough people to feel "seen and heard", then go home and not make trouble.

It's the 26th of October. It will be 21 degrees celsius here today. I'm contemplating about wearing shorts or not. But climate change is a hoax man.

I've come at a point in my life where I feel at my happiest when going to the gym a lot, eating healthy, no alcohol and enough sleep every night.

There was a point in my life at which this would seem boring as hell to me but here I am. Eat, sleep, train, spread communism, repeat.

I forgot to save that picture of Yahya with a pistol wearing white shirt and black suit. He was pulling the gun out, very much like an action movie still. Now I can't find it, help?

Got back from my trip. Apparently the area I was in functions as some kind of bird sanctuary or something cause there was a ridiculous amount of them.

Also, I am now into bird watching. Sat in some bird watching houses at a lakefront and really enjoyed it. Saw a few Common Kingfishers among other special birds. Looking into getting binoculars now.

YAHYA LIVES FOREVER! YAHYA IMMORTAL!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 days ago

It finally dawned on me that I had heard about him elsewhere... here:

To demonstrate how wide the findings are going into the depth Palestinian society we mention here that almost the entire high‐level politicians of the PLO, as well and the majority of Hamas leaders, are of a Jewish origin. This includes Mahmud Abbas (Abu Mazen — a descendant of a family of Rabbis), the late Dr. Saʻeb Erikat, Jibril Rajub (Argov), Maruwan Barguti, Nabil Shaʻat, Khanan Ashrawi, from the Fatah movement, […] Khanin Zuabi, and late sheikh Akhmad Yassin, Ismail Haniʻya, Dr. Mussa Abu Marzuk, Muhammed Def, Dr. Aziz Duwek (a Cohen), and above all Yikhyeh Sinuar from Hamas.

How could I have forgotten?

Only recently did I learn that the Palestinians have a word for their Maccabean spirit: sumud. Learning about how Sinwar perished in combat, I was reminded of something as I was doing research for this thread:

A transport of prisoners from Bergen‐Belsen Concentration Camp arrived at Gas Chamber II of Auschwitz. In the undressing room, one of the Jewish women seized SS man Josef Schillinger’s pistol and shot Schillinger and another guard, Wilhelm Emmerich!

You can see that sumud runs in the family.

Unfortunately, not all Jews choose to harness their gifts; some try to imitate their conquerors instead.

Going to do a solo trip for the first time in my life (I think?). It's only two days and not even that far from where I live lol but I'm excited. I'm going to hike along a river through some valley and sleep somewhere along the way.

My relationship is fine if anybody is wondering. We were just discussing doing stuff like this alone the other day and figured I might use my days off in a good way since I'm banned from entering Paris for unrelated reasons.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 5 days ago
