It's really fun to see users on here who declare they came from elsewhere in the Lemmyverse, ignored the boogyman narrative, had a cool conversation with our valiant posters, and eventually decided we were so friendly and welcoming that they wanted to stay. I see someone declaring that basically every week now, it's great to see the proof that you can actually have more comrades by means of nice conversations

Same here. Although for me it was kind of cheating, since I was on the subreddit before and had no idea it moved here. Once I found that out, the bears had a leg up on dragging me here from my other Lemmy Alt lol. But I found that out only after hexbear were depicted as a boogie man to my other Lemmy account, and after I had a conversation with a couple about stuff.
that was me too! I found Hexbear because someone made a post on midwest.social right after federation, asking if midwest.social was going to preemptively defederate like lemmy.world, which brought in a bunch of drama and bitching about Hexbear that prompted me to come check it out and then make an account, and it became my lemmyverse main within a week or two.

I've tried a few times but gave up after a tourist wasn't using the sludge in their brain pan to try to understand that the modern concept of the nuclear marriage was intended for women to be used as chattel or that having a large amount of children was done partially for free labor exploitation in the homesteader era.

I will say, the amount of people that legit understand theory here towers over the users in the lefty reddit spaces. Right now on /r/communismmemes, there is a user claiming that all anarchist are liberals. I tried telling them they are wrong and they immediately downvoted me like a dweeb.
