Someone on /c/requests asked for a Dallas community so I figured I'd ask here. I'm a suburbanite so I don't feel comfortable trying to mod for a place I don't live in.

I don't know that is needed (at least not yet). In general posts for one city are relevant enough for the other. It may get to that point though if the community grows enough. In general I would say there isn't a big need for a Dallas only community until there is enough need for a Ft Worth only community then you have to deal with (from a mod perspective) where you draw the lines. Which suburbs should/shouldn't post in which city. It's kind of a mess.

There's already three Dallas communities on two Lemmy instances, I don't think we need to fragment more.
