SimpleX is under attack by the magazine Wired,

But what surprises me is the reaction of the developer Evgeny Poberezkin,

You don't get to pick and choose who uses freely available software.

I had my suspicions he wasn't a real cypherpunk, because he took venture capital funding to begin with, and that was a red flag in itself.

Yeah let’s see how that’s gonna play out but tbh the reaction was just a simple deflection and as long as the product stays open source and self hostable I don’t really care what the founder says.

The Lemmy founders say some weird tankie shit all the time. I got banned from lemmy.ml for saying there’s a genocide against Uyghurs happening in China, they said that’s racist lol. I still believe lemmy as a technology is useful.

The problem is just when the VC kicks in and starts demanding shitty stuff that’s gonna ruin the whole thing. Probably just a matter of time but until then I believe SimpleX is far from perfect but has a very convincing architecture.

Completely agreed, even if the founder is an absolute ass hat, as long as they make good technology, it's still worth using it as long as its FOSS.

Neo-Nazis Are Fleeing Telegram for Encrypted App SimpleX Chat

Fortunately, the political orientation of the users of free, open software is irrelevant. Of course, they still have to abide by the laws and regulations of their country.

I agree with the SimpleX dev that SimpleX is shit and will never be a useful mainstream platform.

SimpleX lacks too many necessary features for adoption. Features that we don't have to sacrifice security to have.

I don't see how it's unusable as a chat platform. Yeah it's not suitable for becoming a social media platform, but isn't that a plus for a chat app?

Read the article. The dev said room sizes will never be big enough for many people's needs. Think university students groups. Or activists in a city. Or a chat for a large committee at big city.

But theres loads of other features that are intentionally absent.

Most people will need basic features like syncing if chats between the install of the client on their laptop and their mobile device. SimpleX will never have this feature.

People who have to use the best tools, use the best tools. In other news: water confirmed to be wet

Telegram users mostly use it for channels, bots and super groups which Simple X doesn't even support.

Now why they target SimpleX and not Signal? The CIA backed honeypot.
