Hello, The Gary!

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Does it support Plex and Jellyfin?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

It does ! It’s a PC! You can add anything to your Steam library and launch it as a game in gaming mode. You can also install Flex from the discover app!

Anything that supports Linux also supports the Steam Deck. Bonus poinrs if it's available as a Flatpak.

When steam os upgrades, it wipes the installed apps, right?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Not flatpaks. Also there's rwfus if you need to use pacman.

It does, if you install them from pacman

Sure, just trying to point out that by default it takes these actions in order to keep the system as stable as possible. Going against it can leave you in an unusable state.

Looks awesome, if I had a deck I bet I spend more time messing with it then actually gaming on it

I have to find some good AAA games that run well on the Steam Deck (not like Baldur’s Gate III — even tho the game is really good!)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Or less demanding games like Hades, which plays like it was made for the Steam Deck.

Thanks to you, I tried Katana Zero and I’m currently back in my Cyberpunk phase.

I need to play some Cyberpunk TTRPG now! Thanks for making my night more exciting!

Besides Hades, Souls games play very well and Subnautica works great. Heavy action FPS games are a bit rougher on handhelds IMO, but Prey is slower and plays well. Metroidvanias and roguelikes are also Steam Deck staples.

Elden Ring runs great

Xbox Cloud Gaming works great on the Deck!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ah I've not thought of that. Game pass ultimate seems worth it now.

I really like it but I would like it to be open-source to try adding controller support since they want to officially support the Steam Deck!

It is open source and it kinda has controller support, but you have to enable it.

For the Deck, I map it as a keyboard in Steam

I should go back and rewatch this. I really enjoyed the first season, but then I know I watched the rest but couldn't tell you what all happened.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Same here!
I just remember stuff getting weirder and weider. Not that that's a bad thing (especially not for this series), but my brain's ability to store information is directly proportional to the amount of dots it can connect between known stuff and new stuff, and apparently somewhere along season 2 it just threw its hands up and exclaimed "screw this."

Still a lovely series though. I hope Gary at least got a fresh cookie at the end.

I really like it, though the big warning is it was canceled without resolving anything. (guess a graphic novel is coming out to actually resolve it).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh that is cool. I thought it had an ending but I lost a lot of plot points between seasons which is probably why I have no idea what happened after season 1. I'm good with a graphic novel to wrap it up.

Now I just need someone to finish Infinity Train!

I use my Switch like this for YouTube! My Bluetooth headphones pair to it and it’s nice to be able to pick up my video to go do chores (and the reverse of dropping it into the dock when I wanna sit)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Yes, I understand the appeal of watching things on your handled

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Doesn't this feel bulky/heavy for binge watch stuff?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Ive held my buddy's deck a few times, and despite how bulky it is, it is well balanced and feels light in your hands.

Otherwise for streaming it's a linux PC so if youre downloading files or using plex/jellyfin(or even a legit streaming service the BS with browser DRM on some services not giving you full hd doesnt matter as much on a small 720p screen) you can have it auto play, or use kde connect to remote control with your phone and etc.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Not at all, I don’t need to touch it, it autoplays every episode !
