It's all a bit hectic, but it's fun just chatting with people, swapping food and smoking cigs on the platforms when the train stops every now and then.

The idea of being on a train for two days is just so fricking cool

Wow maybe you can go to Xinjiang and see first hand how terrible it is to live there, tankie.

[–] [email protected] 44 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Indeed. I hear that noodles are free and that you are forced to only pay for toppings. On multiple occasions Chinese people from all over the country have told me that the people of Xinjiang are living in conditions described as "the most beautiful in China".

Truly I feel for them.

I hope you watch in horror as you see the locals enjoying their traditional cultural dress and festivals you damn tankie!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 months ago

That's one of the cute things about China. Everywhere you go you see people getting photoshoots in their traditional dress. Each place is different

Comrade you sure you want to post your photo like that? Feels like a pretty extreme opsec risk

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago

I recognize him that's Elijah Wood

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 months ago

He's in china, outside the influence of the great evil

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 months ago

It's fine. I'll reuse that image and claim it's myself in 3 months to throw them off the trail.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

Let them come.

If you do any real life organizing, I think it renders online opsec entirely moot. All the local cops will know who you are and the fascists can figure it out with a tiny bit of effort. We need to move away from anonymity as security and towards discipline and trust. That's how communist parties of the past did it.

that meal looks like it beats the fuck out of amtrak trying to serve bougie steaks and salmon and shit but not having anything better than a microwave on board to cook with

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It was great. Cost about 4 dollars I reckon. Also came with a cabbage broth. Extremely filling

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 months ago

for that money on amtrak you can almost get a single hot dog

The sleeper trains are so much funnnnn have a great time comrade

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Sleeper trains are such a cool idea, they would work out great here in Australia, but would never get implemented. I also couldn't imagine going to sleep on a train and leaving your luggage unguarded over here either. China is on a whole other level.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

The US and Australia are basically the same size as China and would benefit so much from connecting major cities long distance with fast overnight trains. But instead Chicago -> SF is like a 3 day journey. And down under, imagine if people from Perth were permitted to travel to the East coast?

Enjoy the good food in Xinjiang! Cheap too
