Are you asking this on an Android app where people discuss news and share it?

I mean I am looking for app that only does this with no other functionality.

Could you not, say, just subscribe to a news community and keep your settings to “local” so it only displayed that?

  1. Create new Lemmy account.
  2. Subscribe to news communities only.
  3. Download alternate Lemmy app or clone your current one somehow (i.e work profile).
  4. Use second lemmy app with new lemmy account only for news.
  5. Profit?

I think Lemmy does this. Also Mastodon.

Also reddit. Let us know if you try any of these new websites OP!

Hacker News

I think a lot of smaller local news sites have that option too?? Sometimes when I click on a news article, there is a comment section below where people can throw their 2 cents.

App accessibility will be pending which news sites...

I haven't logged in yet, but Newsmast is an app that runs off of Mastodon. Could be what you're looking for (but I also might misunderstand what the app actually does).

One I can think of is Flipboard (yes, they are part of the fediverse)
