General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

MODERATORS

I was just thinking, will the Conservative party take the same path as the Republicans and merge with our MAGA? Or, will their encounter with Boris Johnson be enough of our MAGA?

That's still to be seen. If their next leader is Suella Braverman then they will lurch right but, apparently, her support is ebbing away and there are a lot of Tory MPs highly-motivated to stop her winning the leadership. However, it comes down to the membership who previously picked Boris Johnson and Liz Truss to lead them, so anything is possible.

Yeah, Boris did gut the Conservatives of any moderates over Brexit. Without them, they will have the devil's own job moving centre-ward.

For them it's a catch-22, the current make up of the Conservatives make it a hostile environment for moderates, but they need them to bring the Conservatives to the centre. The right will need to cede power for that to happen.
