I'm an old SG fan rewatching the franchise again, but I am also unhappy about how pretty much all the info about the series internal chronological watch order is found only on Reddit or Stackexchance - the shittification both of those entities discusts me and I loath to give them any traffic.

So, I'm wondering if anyone here knows a link to a document or would be willing to write about the watch order youre supposed to watch the various series. For the love of all the gods I cant remember it. It just hit me, now in season 5 and the 1st appearance of Dr. McKay, that this is starting to become relevant.

I know its a lot to ask. Still, I would hope there would be alternatives to this info in the internet other than these shittified sites. My google/bing fu is not good enough to find it on other than these shit sites.

Do you not know of Gateworld?

As much of a joke as this is. There are several. I would go one show at a time or Alternating seasons.

Oh curses, I had all but forgotten about Gateworld as a resource. Mainly because it didnt/doesnt seem to work well on mobile!

Also I saw that meme earlier, but given the years since last watching the show, I didnt give it much thought. Thank you for your tips!

I'd watch SG-1, then Atlantis. Except one crossover episode in later SG-1 seasons there are references to it here and there but both should work on their own.

Alternatively you could go SG-1 S1-S8, then watch entirety of Atlantis and then go back to SG-1 S9 nd S10. In many ways those seasons might as well be different spinn-off. Due to reasons this is how I mostly experienced it and worked fine.

Also, when you reach Stargate Universe - go into it with open mind and no expectations. S1 will give you whiplash in how different it is but it gets more Stargate in S2. Gets really good towards S2 end (which is right where it got cancelled).

Actually felt stargatey toward the end

Shift started at the beginning of S2 but really kicked in the second half. It was still different to previous entries, but the spirit was back

You could see the studio interference go away and they got to make the show they wanted to.

I hated Universe when it first came out, but I gave it a proper go last year and really loved it. The Battlestar Galactica comparisons are valid, but still great in its own right.

This was me. I didn't make it past S1. Came back with 0 expectations and looked at it as a completely standalone show, it was fairly good in S1 and got much better in S2 and got the Stargate spirit as a bonus.

I remember bejng hype when it released and really wanting to watch it but ended up not keeping up after a few episodes. Did a rewatch a few years ago and man I didn't give it as much of a chance as I probably should have, did it right after a bsg binge so was in that type of mood.

Original movie, SG-1, Atlantis starts at s8 e3 of SG-1, SG-1 movies at some point after SG-1 ends with the second one after s4 of Atlantis, then Universe.

Thanks for linking this spreadsheet! I remember seeing this a while back (maybe this was the bump to get me watching the franchise again?) and downloading it, but my phone at that time crapped itself soon after and I merrily forgot about it. I'm gonna be sure to save this cheatsheet to another device now.

Thank you!

Just watch them in order by air date. There's no need for spreadsheets or wikis.

It's a shame that the early seasons of SG1 were just plastic guns in a forest, bc the story/lore is so cool but I can't really recommend it anymore to first timers. Not the q I know
