Without showing your receipt, we can't know. I'm not from CA but that's damn near 10%, so I'd wager the store has incorrectly applied the CA+LA sales tax of 9.5% to your purchase.
I didn't get a receipt. I just went somewhere else that didn't try and add the sales tax to things that shouldn't. Ironically, I only went into the first place because it should have been cheaper.
Wondering what comes in a can that costs that much these days.
