Just skip the raptor phase and make a good deed, adopt an adult dog.

Alternatively, embrace chaos and adopt in the raptor phase.

We wanted to adopt an adult dog but fell in love with a Raptor. She's good now but man, never again.

We have a raptor. We call him Garchomp. He doesn't chew, but does chomp.

I hope he settles down at the magic 2 year mark!

Ours wasn't a biter or a chewed. Just too smart for her own good, and if she didn't have enough smart things to do she would find dumb things. Defeated all of the childproof door locks, cabinet locks, baby gates.

And then you don't have to toilet train them.

Unless you rescue a dog that has been solely toilet trained on a puppy mat. It's a lot of work to fix it, as i now know

With parrots the second stage lasts 40+ years

Well, they ARE dinosaurs.

0-4 months should just be poop everywhere all the time

I only have scars from the puppy stage, oddly enough. When their teeth are little daggers and they haven't learned humans don't do love nips.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Why didn't anybody tell me humans don't do love nips? This whole time I've been raising dogs wrong.

This also applies to min-pins except that instead of 24 months it's 5 years.
