cb400 thats been a hassle lately, one stud pulled out of the case, causing a leak, another leak in the similar spot happily turned out to be sealing surface and not another stud, then it ate both coils one after another. but now its good for a holiday to spain, owner will take a mechanic with him (i.e. my dad)

I think you guys like guzzis?

This guys pull ups and spots my purple and teal bike, like the spiderman meme, both of us were like "it's liek this for the wife/daughter!"

One of my dads other cb450's, but this one is a CL style.

gs1000, old special thats been kept in a timewarp condition, not sure who owns this now, but it belonged to a guy from Medaza cycles

was all over this, cb400n, rg125 front forks, love the use of top clamps for foot hangers

I bought my first motorcycle a few days ago (will post the promised pics soon!) but I noticed that the nozzle of the fuel station goes quite deep into the tank, so if it shuts off automatically, my tank is only half full.

From cars I know you shouldn't fill up further after it automatically shuts off, but they don't have this issue, so...

The question is, how do I know how much fuel I can put in the tank, without damaging anything (short or long term)?

Edit: thanks for the responses, since the bike is more than 20 years old, I don't haave the manual. But just filling it up as full as possible while the lid can still close comfortably seems to work just fine

On a small, rural road, about 45 minutes from home. Had to be quick with the photo... hadn't seen another vehicle in quite some time, but Murhpy's law sent a car just a minute after I stopped😃. The bike is a Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel 2022

Between that dumpster and light pole means I'm not in the path of a car, nor am I taking a place they would want. Also not blocking a walking path or door, so I should be left alone. The pic is dark but the area is also reasonably lit.

A whole month of the summer missed waiting to get my 2006 Vespa GTS (called Beetle due to the custom matt black paint job) serviced. Rear brake was intermittently dragging and I couldn't figure out the cause.

Turned out it was a slightly loose terminal bolt on the rear axle 😗 Must have been a pothole I hit hard at the top of the season. Mechanic tightened the bolt and ol' Beetle is good as new, nothing needed to be replaced and all it cost me was an hour's labour, very reasonable.

Changed the air filter to celebrate the second coming of season '25. The pic is from today's hop to the woods, made timber and firewood with a group of friends - I was there first 😄

Hi all, I passed my exams last friday, and I can pick up my license on Tuesday. Now all that's left is buying a bike. What's your best advise for buying on the second hand market? I have no idea how to judge if a bike is worth its pricetag. Wat are things to look for? Your expertise would be greatly appreciated!

I go from stop to start in first gear. All is nice. I then shift up and my bike roars. This is because I’m in neutral instead of second gear.

Does anyone else struggle with this? I’m new. Any tips or is it just a matter of getting good?

I'm a green rider, just got my license. Despite lots of advice to the contrary, went with a cruiser as my first bike. Haven't regretted a single moment, though the first slow turn off the seller's driveway on this was...intimidating.

Now that I've got used to the bike, the valve clacking has started to bother me a bit. I have some experience with engines, it could be perfectly normal, but it is quite distinctive.

Anyone have experience with these, is it likely normal or should I start looking into adjusting them? According to the seller they were adjusted about 1600km ago last year.

I know it's impossible to say without hearing it, but asking anyway. Other tips are more than welcome too!

. For a damp evening we had some bangers, 500hp katana, not sure what the gsxr made, but both serious racers. Obvs there is no racing in Ireland right now, so take the race bike to the pub?

This VFR was so clean, I would never have taken it out of the sitting room.

Struck up a conversation with owner of this, I've a 2MA that need some light work, was trying to wrangle spares out of him while he was trying to wrangle spares out of me :) anyway made a new friend.

Bought a new bike in June, been riding it almost everyday (when the weather allows for it) and haven’t had any oopsies with it. I have about 3100km on the odometer.

I pull into my garage and it’s a tight fit between my kayak and my car and I guess the ground was a bit too slippery or maybe I overturned (or both) and next thing I know my bike is tipping to the right and I’m not able to stop it.

I guide it down but it’s 414lbs and I am a small guy most days so it falls on my surron, knocks that over too. Fortunately nothing got super damaged and I was able to quickly turn off the engine and the bike.

My first thought was “I’ve broken the brake lever and my mirror I’m fucked”. Second was “how am I going to lift this when the hot side is down???”

Fortunately and to my surprise, the bike was quite easy to pick up. I’ve never picked up a downed bike ever. My feet slipped a bit as I was pushing but I got it back upright without a struggle.

My mirror seemed to absorb most of the impact and it just unscrewed so I screwed it back into place and readjusted. Test front and back brake and they work fine and no sign of damage.

I don’t even have any scratches. I guess maybe the foot peg also took some force. I’m a lucky dude and I feel very dumb even though it’s a guarantee one drops the bike at least once. Just waiting for the adrenaline to calm down. 😆

Same guy who owns the matchless g50 I took some pics of last month, brought this over to the shed to improve the brakes.

That's my dad myself and my office gut getting the italian master to work with the british caliper.

I was so geeked out about all the details, I only took a pic of the gear change lever, quaife six speed box behind it well.

Bike did 147mph at it's last race.

My girl wanted a more comfortable seat than the Yamaha Vstar we currently have. It's heavy but all in all a great bike. First one I've ever had with a stereo and I'm loving it.

I posted a couple days ago https://lemmy.ca/post/48328336 complaining about losing 2-5 psi per day and always having to top up air.

This was because all the tire pressure gauges I was using were utter GARBAGE. It seems this is the norm. Not only are the gauges on air pumps wrong, the air pumps are even wrong about how much air they put out.

This led me to believe I had leaks in my tires. Because every time I test them with the built in gauge, they would show up as random-ass numbers. And when I pumped air into them, it gave me more garbage about how much went in.

I was sure I had pumped too much air into the tires. Turns out they never had enough air to begin with since I received it off the delivery truck. I’ve been riding 2300km a fair bit deflated.

Now to relearn how my bike handles (because for some reason, every time I inflated it the bike handled better 🙄😒). Just noob things.

My bike has held a constant exact pressure for 24h and is finally at recommended psi. Moral of the story, research accurate and calibrated digital tire gauges and don’t trust air compressors either.

new swingarm, trapped the engine breather, popped out the kickstart seal, lost an alarming amount of oil, unfortunately the engine survived, so i still can't buy a zs190 :(

Spent the afternoon riding some trails and back roads to find some decent loops for my newbie friends, before I throw them into some real technical stuff 😈

I’ve been monitoring it for a few days. I carry a small portable air compressor and the digital gauge on it consistently shows the pressure being around 2-5 psi lower.

It seems the front tire loses air slightly faster than the rear but I can’t confirm that yet.

It seems I have to top up both tires before every ride now. I do around 80-150km per ride and measure inside a my garage before riding.

Should I be concerned? Is this normal? What has been your experience? Put my mind at ease one way or another 🤪 I just want to ride safely.

Over just under 3 weeks (June 21st to July 11th) I travelled from Chattanooga, TN to Metropolis IL, Branson MO, Dodge City KS, Colorado Springs CO, Winter Park CO, back to Colorado Springs (my buddy had a short out-patient surgery to reattach his bicep), on to Roswell NM, Blanchard OK, Camden AR, and finally back to Chattanooga. I spent several days at my friends houses in Colorado, and 2 nights in Metropolis, Branson, Dodge City, and Blanchard so I had a day to play tourist and spend some time with my family in Branson and Blanchard. I probably averaged about 350 miles per day on my riding days, but did pull close to 500 twice. While my bike is definitely not a touring machine (more like a cafe racer), by standing on the pegs and making frequent stops, along with an unrecommended daily dosage of Ibuprofen, I made it and had a blast doing so; even if my butt complained.

The title photo was taken by my Nephew in Oklahoma (and yes, it has inspired a gym membership and diet).

Summer skies, tall clouds, country lanes. Today is perfect; take the time now and tomorrow you can deal with tomorrow. For instance, maybe tomorrow I'll finally get around to painting that silly crate black to match the rest of the bike...
