I don't know anyone who celebrated except maybe the shitstains at adobe who planted the timebomb in Flash Player. Though that was pretty short lived because people found a way around it, either out or necessity (in china) or because they wanted to keep using the Flash projector to play games on Desktop.

For anyone not aware of the workarounds it was likely pretty shitty for people who needed or want to use software that depends on Flash Player.

Of course now we have ruffle.rs but it still isn't perfect, and there is still software that relies on unimplemented functions. Hopefully those get resolved soon.

This is really shitty but it doesn't surprise me at all. He's trying to make a shift because he doesn't want to face repercussions of being labeled transphobic, possibly being widely banned and ostracized.

It's very different when someone actually realizes they were wrong and want to change and be better. Nutomic isn't doing that here, he just wants people to give donations and to avoid fallout from him letting his opinions slip publicly.

You can play way more than just Aperture Desk Job for free, a lot of games on Steam these days are Free, and I'm not talking about free to play. I'm not sure but I don't remember there being any full free games on the eshop, F2P yes but developers there never opted to make their games just free. Some devs on Steam absolutely have.

I've kind of given up on the idea of playing those types of competitive online games, not just because of people cheating in them but also because of how the community these days addresses cheating, by witch-hunting and accusing people of cheating for being too good, or for sucking at the game, or for having opinions on surveillance and security (sometimes just because for being queer). They also often harass these people they target. I have hundreds of toxic assholes on Steam blocked for this behavior alone because they came to my profile to harass me.

That's awersome, now we just need to get people to move on from the linux community on lemmy.ml, there are some good ones like !linux@programming.dev, !linux@sh.itjust.works, and even !linux@lemmy.world but these still have less users than the linux community on lemmy.ml unfortunately.

Hexbear's domain has expired and the admins can't get ahold of the original registar. Currently up for auction at 20 bids and $550.

That's going to be a nightmare honestly if they do. Since there are so many Servers now with a big stick in their ass about defederation and only Defederated Hexbear after a lot of persuasion. This will probably end up giving their instance a second chance on many instances which defederated them before.

@imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works @kersploosh@sh.itjust.works @InEnduringGrowStrong@sh.itjust.works We may want to be on the lookout for their new domain whenever they migrate to it.

Edit: Their new domain is chapo.chat, we should probably block them before they try to refederate with us and spam our users.

I suppose playing cards in Europe are considered "gambling materials" under that logic and aren't allowed to be sold to people under 18? That would be absurd.

This is awesome, hopefully this means we might get new living room Steam Machines in the future. That would be very cool. I know you can build your own by getting a cheap AMD mini PC and installing unofficial Steam OS on it but it would be nice to have the real deal with an official Steam OS version.

I agree with this and I think it makes sense since mod actions are already public, they're sent to every single server out there and any server which enables them will reveal mod names, and allow searching by mod. So I think it's only natural to enable it to make ease of use better since it allows searching by the mod doing it in the modlog and lets you confirm whether it is a specific mod doing things. That can be useful for reporting but it can also just be useful for people just looking to avoid conflict. If @person@sh.itjust.works moderates several communities and is banning people for being gay and outing them in the modlog I might want to report them specifically for doing that, but someone else might just want to avoid touching any of the communities they are doing that in. Being able to know which person is doing the bans can help with that.

I strongly disagree with the idea that knowing who did it is only useful as a form of vigilante justice, it can be but the people looking to do this will do it anyway. It is better as a tool for users to help better report abusive behavior, or even just avoid conflicts with a specific moderator.

I would say he's being quite honest, especially considering they have one of the highest suicide rates.

[-] Draconic_NEO@sh.itjust.works 30 points 2 years ago

Hexbears say that anyone who's against them are fascists so I'm not really surprised.

Generally I've found that Hexbears and lemmygrads think anyone who disagrees with or says anything bad about them or communism is a chud or is spreading misinformation.
