Yes, but temporary fixes are the most permanent.

Looks like the thread is handling most of the force, and the glue is just keeping it in place.

Yeah, there are even bridges for IRC and email. But those are just bridges, and since the underlying services don't use the same protocols it'll never have the same level of integration as true federation.

One of those is not like the others... Did you know Lemmy and Mastodon servers can federate with each other so users can see each others posts and comment, etc?

There are several ways. There could be a vulnerability in one of the underlying algorithms, in the crypto system, or in the implementation.

I'm not saying signal isn't secure, but encryption can absolutely be hacked.

Was it sold as pure NaCl? Probably not...

America used cubic inches for most of the 20th century. The chevy big block engine line was pretty popular, check out the different sizes it was made in: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_big-block_engine

Although Americans used to use cubic inches for engines...

No, this is fake. You can put whatever you want in the envelope and send it back, but they won't deliver a whole package. They only prepaid postage for a letter.

Of course if you send something dangerous/threatening you might get arrested.

Hey everyone, I'm new to photography and wondering how much people spend on lenses compared to the camera body they're mounted on? Does it make sense to buy a higher end lens for a mid range camera, or would you be better off getting a slightly cheaper lens and spending some of the money on a nicer camera? Mainly wondering about used gear...

Currently shooting with my SO's D3500 when she isn't using it, and thinking of buying my own. Considering a used Pentax since weather resistant lenses seem easier to find for them than other brands...

Edit: how practical is it to use a Pentax lens on a Nikon with an adapter, and vice versa? I assume the electronics like AF and VR won't work?

Just knowing how to use Google/ddg/etc to search for a solution to your problem makes you better at troubleshooting than most people. Spending 30 seconds to find a relevant link can make you seem like a genius to a lot of people.

I'm printing with PLA on a "PEO" print bed (really a textured PEI), on my heavily modified ender 3, and there's a pattern on the bottom of my first layer that I'm trying to get rid of. The top of the first layer looks fine, and changing the z offset in either direction doesn't help. I've also tried slowing down the print speed because I thought the extruder might be skipping, but I'm still seeing it at 10mm/s. Any idea what could be causing it, and how to get rid of it?

Edit: the first layer went down from the bottom left to the top right, but the pattern I'm seeing is perpendicular to the extruder path

I remember this article... He went for a hike and didn't tell his roommates when he would be back. He didn't answer their calls (I'm assuming he needed some time alone), and was gone for more than 24 hours so they reported him missing. He just wanted some time away from his roommates and they put him the the national news.

One of the benefits of a federated social media network is being able to pick an instance that aligns with your own values. If you'd prefer that the admins defederate certain content that isn't defederated by this instance, have you considered using an instance that more closely aligns with your views? As long as they haven't defederated this instance, you'll still be able to interact with any users and communities on this instance that you don't personally block.

I sincerely hope this doesn't sound like I'm asking you to leave. One of the reasons I'm on this instance is that everyone is welcome to make an account, which feels very inclusive to me.
