The world’s largest amateur radio convention returns to the Greene County Fair and Expo Center this weekend, with a slate of new and classic experiences for ham radio fans of all ages.

Hamvention brought over 35,000 amateur radio enthusiasts and over 700 volunteers to Xenia last May, and organizers have seen “equally exciting” ticket sales for 2025. For comparison, the population of the entire city of Xenia is only about 25,000.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s request to block a proposed constitutional amendment that would eliminate qualified immunity for police and public officials, allowing citizens to sue public employees who violate their constitutional rights.

The decision clears the way for the amendment to proceed to the Ohio Ballot Board, which will review its language to determine if it should appear as one or multiple ballot issues. Proponents must then collect 413,487 valid signatures to place the measure on the statewide ballot.

Yost, a Republican, had rejected the amendment’s language eight times, prompting a lawsuit from three Ohio voters represented by Capital University professor Mark Brown. U.S. District Court Judge James Graham ruled against Yost, finding his rejections overly technical. The Supreme Court’s denial upholds that decision, though Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh dissented, indicating they would have reviewed the case.

The ruling could limit the attorney general’s authority to reject proposed constitutional amendment language, potentially easing the path for future ballot initiatives in Ohio. The Ohio Ballot Board previously approved a modified version of the measure in December 2024, but proponents aim to move forward with their original language.

Today, in an historic win for bodily autonomy and LGBTQ+ Ohioans, a three judge panel on the Tenth District Court of Appeals overturned House Bill 68, Ohio’s law banning gender-affirming medical care for trans youth, and prohibiting trans women and girls from participating in sports.

CONCERNING THE MARCH 4TH DC PROTEST

The March 4th national march in DC was never an official 50501 protest. The flyer announcing the event was created by a well-meaning individual who was not affiliated with the 50501 DC organizers, and by the time it reached us to address it, it had already reached many of you. After evaluating the safety and logistics of hosting such an event, the DC organizers did not feel they could safely plan a large, national event with their available resources and funding before March 4th. They are choosing to move forward with a livestream leading up to and during the SOTU in lieu of an in-person protest.

The DC organizers are considering plans for a future march and strongly encourage protesters to attend protests in their area during the March 4th for Democracy day of action. Stay tuned for an announcement from DC protesters coming soon!
