Single core, 32 bit CPU, can't even do video playback on VLC. But it kinda works for some offline work, like text editing, and even emulation through zsnes! It's crazy how Linux keeps old hardware like this running.

Thankfully though, this laptop CPU is upgradable, and so is the ram, so I'm planning on revitalizing and bringing this old Itautec to the 21st century 😄

But isnt this like asking "Show me how to run Nintendo Services on the PS5 and I will switch"?

Windows has it's own ecosystem just as much as Linux has it's own ecosystem, so expecting Linux to run everything Microsoft is kinda of unreasonable IMO.

To switch an OS also means to switch an ecosystem. You wouldn't move from Android to iOS expecting it to run Android's .apk, right?

I'm not criticizing you tho, if a service you rely on doesnt work on Linux, then Linux isnt for you, and you're free to use Windows, an OS is just a tool after all 😁

I tried out most (if not all) of the music players on flathub, but I always end up going back to Rhythmbox. It's so simple, lightweight, got just enough features (for my use case) and blends well with GTK Desktops (I mostly use Gnome and Cinnamon) and it looks so clean in my Nord theme 😆

How has your experience with Rhythmbox? do y'all got any alternative you think everybody should give a try? I personally think Elisa is a close second!

Canonical deserves most of the critics they get.

Ubuntu users on the other hand don't deserve even the slight amount of critic they get for just.. Using Ubuntu. like, at least they use Linux, we should be encouraging them to keep using it.

Mint is the best distro for the average user who doesnt want to tinker with their OS or doesnt want to waste time fixing issues.

IF Mint doesnt go well with your laptop, I would try out Fedora, which is more up to date with stuff and also very user friendly choose Fedora Workstation if you're feeling adventurous. choose Fedora KDE if you want a Windows like experience.

In my personal opinion: 1- Snap packages. Dont like them for their closed source backend, dont lime them for how canonical has been sneaking then into the system of users who have been originally trying to install a deb.

2- Modern Ubuntu simply has no real benefit compared to other Distros. Nowadays it's just another Gnome and Debian-based distro, I see no reason to use it over Debian itself, or Fedora, Solus, or any other Ubuntu derivative that simply does better than "vanilla" Ubuntu, such as Pop!_OS or Linux Mint.

I don't hate Ubuntu, and I recognize it's importance for Linux as a desktop in it's early days, but Canonical really lost track of themselves.

LMDE. Not Ubuntu based, but Debian based so its the closest I can think on the top of my head. It got 32 bit support and Cinnamon desktop.
