People are acting like this man got conned or like they’re stupid. This was a bribe for a get out of jail free card. If you’re rich and make your money in black market ways this is the best possible decision you can make. Your name is on a list in front of the president even if you didn’t meet him. That means a pardon in the future.
Best I can do is drop the taxes on the rich. 👉👈🥺
Germany just had a sweeping far right election, and Argentina has had a libertarian at the helms for a bit now. A ton of south Asian countries have had hardcore conservative views for a while now, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Canada shifts right next election. There are basically few corners of the earth where populism/right wing ideology isn’t growing and expanding. This isn’t an American education system problem, it’s world wide. The political elites in your country just have you convinced that it’s America that’s now the problem, which then creates a new wave of populism in your country. It’s a self eating snake.
Not that I’m disagreeing that our slapping of allies isn’t problematic. This is just something that is clearly growing everywhere and the people of Lemmy love saying “America bad” as the same exact shit is happening in your country. If you’re an American expand your news beyond our shores. The grass is unfortunately turning to shit everywhere. We’re in for a rough decade together.
I love how you’re claiming misinformation while posting misinformation. It’s not the CEO, it’s a board member. That said, the company also officially posted these ideas on their Bluesky account.
This isn’t a “CEO” expressing a belief, it’s the board, and now the official company line.
I’m not disagreeing with their post particularly on corporate dems, but this is a company and not a persons sole belief.
Also, if dems are the party of big business then why are all these big businesses donating to Trump? Does that just mean republicans are the party of even bigger business?
Last I heard too the cars aren’t autonomous in the tunnel either. They’re driven by real people. The “hyperloop” idea was actually to try and kill the high speed rail project in Cali. Elon is a piece of shit and tried to tank our train, which has helped to extend the project further and increase scrutiny of it.
Why are people screaming and afraid? Guns are a part of society in America. Unless… they’re dangerous…
If I recall from the articles about this event. The pastor, who is black, invited Trump. In a funny twist as well, the former mayor of Detroit (also black) was there to speak about how great Trump is. Which is fine, except that Trump pardoned him at the end of his presidency because the man was convicted and guilty of: Obstruction of justice (x2), assault of a police officer, racketeering, tax evasion, extortion, mail fraud.
However even at the event that Kilpatrick was attending with Trump, while singing his praises, didn’t endorse him.

A cyber truck had a major malfunction and stopped working because it went into a car wash without being in “car wash” mode. The joke is that Cybertrucks cannot get wet.
The cyber truck is a piece of shit. Tesla is an F-tier car maker and Elon can go fuck himself… but like this guy is just being considerate with this. If it’s not meant for walking, and it’s just crossed out due to issues with the building/garage design, then just scoot over a bit to give everyone else some space.

The US military heard it and didn’t necessarily want to give away capability of listening devices around the sea floor.

The sub was difficult to get to the debris field because it was at an incredibly deep section that few craft are capable of reaching safely.
It was frustrating they made a big deal about something we ultimately could have done nothing about in the first place. However it’s not like the whole “hearing the implosion” thing was something the military wanted to give away and at that depth we have to be careful. Don’t forget we’ve put more people into space than have been to the deepest point on the planet.

Al-Sharaa is actually kind of an ok guy. I don’t want to say that with complete conviction because unfortunately things haven’t gone well for Syrians for a long time and power vacuums can be dangerous when filled. That said, he seems to actually want to help his people, seems open to fair agreements and some more social responsible rules. I’m not going to speak on the woman as I have no idea, but peace with the Middle East and the US is a positive thing. Understanding them and being in a mutually respecting relationship will only serve us both well. I just hope that it ends up also being truly positive for all Syrians. They deserve peace and freedom after decades of oppression.
