I am a hobbyist and was using ableton live before. As mentioned by others, unless you dual boot - try bitwig studio for similar experience. It is from people who worked in ableton. Have a trial, pirate if can't afford now.

Foss alternative - ardour is great, but you will have to bring your own plug in suit.

Yabridge tool can help you to run windows vsts on Linux, but not everything works. And beware - it does not work with flatpak version Bitwig, at least it did not.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 are about 150, nice open headphones. Both people with requests to sound and casual listeners enjoy (me and my wife as example). They are built very well. My pair is 12 years old and as new when I replace ear pads. They do have very high level of sound quality and detail, hard to beat in leven double price range. I play games, listen and create music in them, due to mindful construction and open back they can be worn for a long time. Sound is open, crisp, with a lot of highs and pretty detailed. If you don't have anything to drive them, take 80ohm. If you need more volume or better sound, consider cheap, good sounding digital audio converter (DAC) and amplifier - check FIIO brand for example, ka11 (40$) is good and very portable, I also use it with my steam deck. But there are other models cheaper.

Sennheisers have a lot of good pairs, but I cannot recommend anything from expirience, Audio Technica is Japanese company and their headphones are good sounding, but a lot of their headphones are fragile.

Overall aim for open headphones as they are better when you wear them for long periods like during gaming. And use return policy to your advantage.

For others trying to find how many charges you actually get from power banks, because it turned out to be not that easy to find, especially with all these variables (see below) and a lot of misleading comments/posts/review from people who are mistaken. Sharing is caring, so please add your devices in comments.

Some thoughts for other lurkers:

  • Amper-hours depend on voltage, so 20000mAh (why not 20Ah, god damn marketing and our monkey brains) might differ from power bank to another.
  • Watt-hours (Wh) might also be a lie, according to some reviewer even known brands might sin.
  • On top you have conversion loss 80-90% roughly speaking.

I bought INIU 20000mah 65w mini P62-E1 for ~50$. It says it is 73Wh. I got exactly one charge 0-100% for my Steam Deck OLED (50Wh) while it being off.

It was as fast as wall charger and thing is small and weights 320g, which is perfect for me. Also design/surface is above what I expected. Included cable is crap and does not support 65w charging, don't ask me why. Steam deck will on repeat go full charging and then stop with that cable. I can recommend it I guess, but for sure there is something better, depends on discounts, too.

I was going through albums I liked before and my eyes stopped on Marilyn Manson's Holy Wood. It sounds (kudos to Dave Sardy skills I guess) incredible 25 years later. To my ears it is as fresh as it was back when I heard it first time, somewhere in 2000-2001. Almost all songs do feel great to me and this album is definitely on of my all time favorites.

I might post other songs from it later, because I like almost all of them.

If society tries to suppress something that will find it's way, you will get it back, but hidden, harder to detect and maybe even changed in a harmful way.

We had it as humanity with alcohol bans, war on drugs, hateful speech bans and etc. We need systematic regulations for unavoidable, not prohibitions which will leak from all places.

Leaving it be while being explicit is reasonable.

As a big music lover I always enjoy an opportunity to share music I love and discover something new to listen.

Song I Love (other link [email protected]) has a set of simple rules of how to create new posts to avoid deviation from the general idea:

  1. Title must be Artist - Title (year)
  2. Post must contain link to some legal source, which should be easily accessible like Youtube or Soundcloud. Original sources and clips are better.
  3. Post must contain explanation why you love it. Additional information about artist or song history is always appreciated and a plus.

I have not ever heard this band until today. Fell in love in Prodigy influenced sound and Die Antwoord vibes.

Music, setup, pace and style sounds just right to my ears, it's Like I'm playing Need for Speed: Underground again for the first time if you know what I'm talking about =)

If you like Prodigy, Deftones, Maxim, Hyper, Beastie Boys and maybe some Hed P.E. or something from Rob Zombie or Kidneythieves - it might be right for you. That's the feeling I got.

I read the drama in Twitter and PR.

While Bottles maintainer does not do a great job to politely prove the point of the patch to disable Bottles outside of sandboxed environments, he is not required to be a diplomat as mainter (though it would be better, of course) and Bottles decision makes total sense - they asked to not package their software long ago as they drown in bugs and supporting non predictable environment with unknown dependencies creates too many problems for them. I can understand that, development is hard as it is, unpredictability of environment multiplies this complexity.

They are maintainers and they do what they can to support the project, so removing donate button while packaging software done by others (who asked not to do it) is a childish move. Yes it's FOSS, but morally it sounds a bit wrong.

We ask too much of mainters when it comes to soft skills, not all of us got these, but also not all of us are FOSS maintainers. And I think we should stop asking everyone to possess all skills in the world and react on someone's rudeness as we are 5 (not saying we shouldn't improve).

That, it's a grown up person's dream of a place to be. At least for lots of folks out there and me)

And overall it's a good game to play slowly for months.

First of all look at the album cover with soviet brutalism - I really like it. Not soviet union though, but the cover. ^^

Overall band's music is not something I would listen, but I liked this particular song and text. I find it hilarious that I got acquainted with this song because one youtuber mentioned it as weird choice for being a "TikTok dressing videos theme song" (what!?). And it actually is. It was funny/weird to look at silly videos while hearing these lyrics (translation from random website is below, it is quite close to the original):

A bedpan

A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
But it is comfortable to die
An enamel bedpan
A window, a nightstand, a bed
Living is hard and uncomfortable
But it is comfortable to die

And it is quietly dripping from a faucet
And life is unkempt like a whore
It appears like out of a fog
And it sees: a nightstand, a bed
And I try to stand up
I want to look into its eyes
Look into its eyes and cry
And never die, never die
Never die, never die,
Never die, never die

I'm playing two games at the moment:

Yet another run in Nier: Automata, second playthrough, first time on steam deck. It runs surprisingly well.

Stardew valley. For steam deck it's a killer game - 8-9 hours on a battery, perfect for resting.

I also have Snowrunner and Vampire Survivors as my go to games.

I'm (was) not into such music, but these guys did it on another level. I still wonder where such level of sound work is coming from.

I love everything about this song - vibe, quality of source musical material, record and sound work, voice, texture of guitar, bass, drums, vocal and it's awesome usage of extensive tremolo effect.

It was a great song, but the way it's done in the recording in my opinion makes it awesome.

I still remember how I played Need for Speed and heard this one. This song has such an interesting "lone road night vibe" for me, still listen to it pretty often. I do recommend to listen to the band if this song is something you enjoyed. They are very good.

I did not expect P.O.D. to make two songs I would like this year - AFRAID TO DIE AND DROP.

Though I liked them both DROP is my favorite of two - it's more of their style from first albums. But on the other hand I do love AFRAID TO DIE and Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer is a really great singer. And clip is also quite enjoyable.

For anyone who did not think about it beforehand and struggled as me. You can run KDE Connect on your machine and send keyboard and mouse inputs using kde connect. Almost 0 input lag. So you can do all you need.

For me it was terminal and some work with files on dolphin (for emudeck). I'm not used to steam deck touch pads yet and using shortcuts on keyboard made everything a breeze.

You can transfer files, too, of course.

Looks like there is a markdown parsing issue on the client you are using. At least from what I can see.

I'm coming from Ableton Live, which I've used for a very long time and got used to, Bitwig turned out to be similar (I think I've seen that company was created with people from Ableton), so it works for me. But it's better to try everything first of course.

Which app are you on? I've used standard markdown list markup, like:

  • Three
