You should set up a speaker in your toilet and start to fade in orchestral music when the occupancy time is getting too long.

It is for me. The user manual states how much water and energy is used for each program. For the Auto program a range is given. The water consumption of the Eco program is almost identical to the worst value of the Auto program. I can measure the power consumption using a smart plug and I know that - at least for my dishes - the Auto program uses less energy than the Eco program.

I can only measure the electricity directly. For the water consumption I rely on the values provided by the user manual.

I am well aware that Eco is supposed to be - well - more economic and maybe eco-friendly, but everything I read and could measure about my specific model indicate the opposite.

My dishwasher automatically selects it's Eco program when powered on. The Eco program uses more water and more energy than the Auto program while also taking almost twice as long. So I have an automation that triggers when my dishwasher is powered on and then selects the Auto program for me - because pressing a button to change the program after loading the dishwasher would be too much to ask.

I am looking for a solution to collaborative PDF editing (mostly annotations). I already have a Nextcloud installation with Office for several members so it would be great if it could be integrated, but it is not necessary.

What I mainly want is the possibility to add and view annotations made by several users on the same file at the same time.

Do you have a suggestion?

You may want to change the title and include the word "protection"...

I know there is barely anyone here, but maybe some of you want to chime in with predictions of what is going to be announced next week.

There is of course the much feared subscription model which will most likely kill most of Affinity's popularity.

I really hope the freedom refers to v3 supporting Linux. It is a slim chance but it would further hit the niche of people who want to get away from closed ecosystems like Adobe or Apple.

What do you think?

So he shows them the movies...because that's not at all how it's phrased in the books...

Discourse exists and is free to self-host and open source. Compared to classic forum software (like most *bb variants) it is a pleasure to use and feels not like a remnant of a lost age.

The (only?) downside is the similar name to Discord, but that's not them to blame, because they had their name first.

The funny thing is: This will work against them regarding the EU DMA regulations. If no one uses their offer it will not be interpreted as nobody wants to use it, but instead it will be interpreted as the offer was unfair.

Does this happen to anyone else? As soon as I open the post (it's in the !selfhosted@lemmy.world community) I briefly see the contents and then Boost crashes. So it could be a comment causing this or the post itself when fully loaded. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android 14.

That way Firefox has to submit a different app for Europe, splitting its userbase and making it more complicated for developers. They are pulling every trick they can...

I am currently using Bring! with my wife to organize our grocery shopping. I am looking for a self hosted alternative. I looked at the awesome self-hosted list and tried Specifically Clementines and of course Grocy. I like that Grocy also includes meal planning although the whole inventory management is too much for us. What I don't like is the interface for both of them. I don't see us using this while in the store with a kid on the arm. It is way too fiddly and complicated. Also adding new items to the list is rather complicated in both apps.

Do you have any suggestions for other projects with a more user friendly interface (even if it means less features)?

Three seasons of PIC were already a mistake. The only good thing coming from it is the possibility of a Riker cooking/baking show (which I would totally watch).

On the slopes between Käserstatt and Mägisalp in the Swiss alps. Hasliberg overlooks the Haslital and Lake Brienz with Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (Top of Europe) on the other side.

Lamborghini Huracan: fast and exciting

Fiat Panda: outstanding fuel efficiency

Trucks: lots of hauling space

Why not build trucks with the chassis of a Lamborghini and the motor of a Panda. It would solve all of our problems...
