Yet the movies only got successful once they got a lot of the TV guys back for set design, wardrobe and makeup for the second movie.

I think the point of the invisible bridge was that you had to really believe it existed because only then you would later activate it. (I really have the feeling the writers were inspired by a movie or something...)

But I agree: The whole logic of the place was a free pass for the writers to do what they wanted. So maybe it's better not to look too close.

Also: Noone not even mentioning the weird background effects (they were obviously added in post so neither the writers nor the actors had the opportunity to really react to it) was big miss for me. It would have been the first thing I would try to scan with my boxy tricorder...

The funny thing is: The campaign relies on politicians to define the final implementation of this. That will most likely fail spectacularly. Adding worker rights to it will most likely increase the chance of success, because at least that is something they have experts for...

I've been thinking about this for a few days now and I think there is a big missed opportunity here. The holodeck prototype showed more of less the same errors holodecks still have 100 years later. They could have shown other faults and use that for a comment on the current AI development.

Discourse exists and is free to self-host and open source. Compared to classic forum software (like most *bb variants) it is a pleasure to use and feels not like a remnant of a lost age.

The (only?) downside is the similar name to Discord, but that's not them to blame, because they had their name first.

The funny thing is: This will work against them regarding the EU DMA regulations. If no one uses their offer it will not be interpreted as nobody wants to use it, but instead it will be interpreted as the offer was unfair.

Does this happen to anyone else? As soon as I open the post (it's in the [email protected] community) I briefly see the contents and then Boost crashes. So it could be a comment causing this or the post itself when fully loaded. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android 14.

I am currently using Bring! with my wife to organize our grocery shopping. I am looking for a self hosted alternative. I looked at the awesome self-hosted list and tried Specifically Clementines and of course Grocy. I like that Grocy also includes meal planning although the whole inventory management is too much for us. What I don't like is the interface for both of them. I don't see us using this while in the store with a kid on the arm. It is way too fiddly and complicated. Also adding new items to the list is rather complicated in both apps.

Do you have any suggestions for other projects with a more user friendly interface (even if it means less features)?
