How do I tell if my cat is chill with stranger cat?

My cats a senior cat who's always seemed to take issue with other cats, particularly in his house.
However, I've found out recently that there's another neighbourhood cat that's been snooping around and stealing his leftover food that he hasn't finished.
I was sitting around on my off day with my cat on the other side of the room when this Siamese cat saunters and makes eye contact with him. I get up assuming this cat is about to antagonise my cat and the Siamese just bolts. I go after it to see that it leaves and once it scarpers out the window I go back downstairs to my cat who hasn't even moved lol.
All of a sudden I feel like maybe ive just chased off one of his mates and feel just a little bad over it lol but I'm really not sure what to think now.
My cat is quite elderly so some part of me thinks he's just intimidated and no longer bothered with defending his territory but then neither of then seemed that bothered by the interaction at the time.
My cat hasn't had any injuries from this cat but I still can't be sure they're not fighting.
Just kind of at a loss at this point lol. Any advice?

Both are things I've heard constantly through my life. Made me feel horrible about myself every single time because I didn't understand why at the time either.
Most of my teachers just assumed I was pissing about behind their backs and would ask me "you must know why you haven't been able to complete the work/homework/task" even if I had been listening and really trying.
Took the whole of primary school and the first year of secondary school before I actually got a teacher who understood and helped me to actually get somewhere.
Still not officially diagnosed just because of how shockingly bad adult ADHD diagnosis is in the UK and not being able to go private but most all the techniques I've used have worked and I think almost any GP that would look at me would probably agree.
Just to say, anyone who might be reading this and can imagine themselves saying/have said these in the past, please don't. You have no idea how unhelpful/damaging talking like this can actually be to someone who really needs the extra support.

My cousin got a new TV and I was helping to set it up for him. During the setup thing, it had an option to enable AI enhanced audio and visuals. Turning the ai audio on turned the decent, but maybe a little sub par audio, into an absolute garbage shitshow it sounded like the audio was being passed through an "underwater" filter then transmitted through a tin can and string telephone. Idk who decided this was a feature that was ready to be added to consumer products but it was absolutely moronic

Kobo was on my short-list not long ago. They seemed like the most polished non-amazon option to me. I haven't switched for now because my old kindle 2 is still clinging to life and because of it being long out of support from amazon I just keep it disconnected from the internet and sideload whatever I want.
With that said though, now that some decent kindle jailbreaking options are available, an old second hand kindle from eBay might actually be a very good option.
