Hear me out.

Odysee already leans heavily into:

Crypto-native infrastructure

Creator monetization and boosts

Decentralization ethos

Resistance to deplatforming

User ownership principles

Those values line up really closely with what Nostr is trying to do — decentralized identity (pubkeys), relay-based distribution, censorship resistance, Lightning-native payments (zaps), etc.

If Odysee integrated with or transitioned toward Nostr:

Creator identities could be portable across the broader Nostr ecosystem

Video posts could propagate across relays

Boosts/zaps could tie into Lightning more seamlessly

It could position itself as the YouTube “video layer” of Nostr

Right now, if someone wants a decentralized YouTube alternative, the usual answers are:

PeerTube (Fediverse-based)

Odysee (LBRY-based)

But Nostr doesn’t really have a dominant video platform yet. Odysee already has the infrastructure, userbase, and crypto alignment.

So I’m curious:

Would this even be technically feasible?

Would it undermine Odysee, or could it complement it?

Would you prefer Odysee stay on its current path, or evolve toward broader protocol interoperability?

Is protocol alignment (Nostr, Fediverse, etc.) even something Odysee should prioritize?

Genuinely curious what this community thinks.

Discovering the power of RSS (mementomori.social)

**Discovering the power of RSS**
Should have done this much sooner, but it's AMAZING. :blobfoxsignbigfan:

I've been distancing myself from YouTube lately. Finding alternative platforms and ways to subscribe to content. RSS have been a great tool for the purpose and I Iove how I can get feeds from services like @peertube and @odysee
@newpipe is also great tool to be able to watch channels that are only on YT, but Google prevents me to watch anything with my VPN. Maybe I host my own VPN instead, but that's a project for another time. For now I won't have access to YouTube and that's fine.

The next phase is my phone that I already have waiting for adoption, after which I can say bye bye to Google :waving_hand:

#rss #peertube #odysee #newpipe #freefrombigtech #onlineprivacy

Check out my new playthrough for the new remaster for the classic 1997 game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Parts 2-5 will release tonight. The rest of the 15 part playthrough will be released over the next 2 days.

@veenk ¿Que opináis de @odysee ? Peertube frente al otro modelo, ¿Son compatibles? Tengo curiosidad por saber más sobre las diferencias entre ambas desde el perfil de gente que controla bastante ☺️

My feed is looking a little scarce right now, so I’m looking for suggestions.

I want to download my favorite debates and old videos from YouTube to upload to Odysee. Can I do that without getting in some sort of legal trouble? Thanks

How odysee gets lbry coins out of nowhere? isnt there any loss to the company? they are hosting the service and they itself provides the lbry coins

LBRY Inc is dead, but LBRY can live on with the FOSS community.

FOSS devs can keep LBRY alive and build on it or it can be forked like previous crypto projects in the past like BCH.
