TL;DR:  Let’s try to be less interesting!

Hello from your mod team (seems like just me, if you’re interested in being a mod ping me)!

I’ve noticed that things have been getting pretty interesting around here lately and we need to tone that back a little.  The goal of this community is to share things that aren’t particularly interesting that you come across.

Yes, “interesting” is very subjective, but I think we need to go back to our roots and consider what brought us all here… we wanted to be mildly interested.

Also, this isn’t a place for politics.  There are many other communities for that, let’s keep it there.

Here are a couple great examples of what I feel we should strive for:

That’s all for now, thanks for your support and understanding.

I made a video on my YT channel this week about google alternatives, and found a site called Marginalia Search, based in Sweden, that focuses on non-commercial content. That choice in this digital ecosystem means you get a lot of weird, old, and interesting stuff when you use it.

Here's the video if anyone's interested in Google alternatives, but feel free to ignore it. There are chapters for the TLDW crowd too.

Edit:
Just realized the correct name for the tree is actually maple.

False friend caused mistake because its name is "Ahorn" in German.
Keeping the heading as it is, because it is funny, although it might trigger the Canadians (sorry, dudes!).

Do we run differently in space than we do on Earth? The answer may surprise you. NASA Public Affairs Officer Lori Meggs talks with John DeWitt, principal investigator for the Treadmill Kinematics experiment aboard the International Space Station. Treadmill Kinematics is the first rigorous investigation to quantify the biomechanics of treadmill exercise conditions during long duration space flight on the station.

This is a followup of: https://sh.itjust.works/post/48867881

Photo description: The acorn is missing now in the hole the animal made in the remnants of the Edelweiss that died last year in the flower pot with red houseleek and some grass coming out. The grass has flowers now and the housleek grew bigger, as the winter is over.

Another, darker shot of the hole in the flower pot

Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
