I can hear the ‘just use Linux/BSD/etc.’ crowd already clamoring in the comments, and will preface this by saying that although I use Linux and BSD on a nearly daily basis, I would not want to use it as my primary desktop system for too many reasons to go into here.

Still though.

SSH managers on Linux? (lemmy.sdf.org)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Curious what folks are using to organise their remote connections? I liked WinSSHTerm and have tried replacing it with Remote Desktop Manager, but it seems a bit broken (fonts look terrible in a terminal, sftp doesn't work, RDP sort of works, but it's not great).

RDP is not a must. Folders, ssh, key auth, sftp and scp are the main things I'm looking for. Currently considering Remmina but though I would check if ppl have strong views on this topic before trying the next app.

I'm using cinnamon with mint 22.

When Wayland? (lemmy.sdf.org)
submitted 3 months ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I've been keeping an eye on the github and the board and it doesn't seem to be moving that much. We're nearly halfway through 2025 and I thought the plan was for Wayland to be supported on cinnamon early 2026.

Wondered if anyone had any more insight into progress/blockers/delays

Thanks Mr Trump - this really helps us sell our non-US technology to the Europeans. Keep on making stuff great again 🤘

I think 90% of my posts are deleted before sending because I just know that someone somewhere will find a way to be mad about it

But OK - here is a post that I would usually have deleted :)

You also don’t get to enjoy many of the PSVR 2’s vaunted box features — HDR, headset feedback, and eye tracking are all disabled. So are the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback (not including rumble) on the controllers.

Ok i thought for sure this is bullshit, but apparently not:

Four in five U.S. adults (79 percent) have English literacy skills sufficient to complete tasks that require comparing and contrasting information, paraphrasing, or making low-level inferences—literacy skills at level 2 or above in PIAAC (OECD 2013). In contrast, one in five U.S. adults (21 percent) has difficulty completing these tasks (figure 1). This translates into 43.0 million U.S. adults who possess low literacy skills

I dunno about winning. Lemmy user count is through the roof. And Im one of the people who left when they pulled the API nonsense. The way they gaslit and lied to the Apollo dev was just unacceptable. Couldn't participate there after that.

I had this argument with a boomer HR consultant and she just doubled down, even though I explained that neither I nor my colleagues, give two hoots about fussball or team building. Our position is a resounding "fuck you pay me" but oh no - boomer knows best.

Lol. I uh. Guess I didn't want a one time payment option after all.
