If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That's not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it's a ghost town and leave.

If you have enough interest to create a community, you probably know something about the subject matter, so PLEASE add some posts (5-10 would be a good start). Maybe some questions to get people talking, even popular reposts from other sites. It sucks shouting into a void, but if you don't do it, everyone else will also be shouting into a void.

Also please consider whether you need to create a community! When there are 100 million users of the site, there may be 1000 people who are interested in the same exact niche tabletop RPG as you, but there are <500,000 users here for now, so you'll be lucky to find 10. Consider creating a thread in a broader community (like boardgames) until you have enough people talking in the thread that it gets messy - then it's time to create a separate community.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Dubvee went offline before we could decide and move the community which just has been moved to Dubvee not more than three weeks ago. Therefor we couldn't announce where we move to which I'd like therefore to do with this post.

The new community is: [email protected]

I really enjoyed the Seed Swap community on Reddit, and gotten a lot of good trades from people there. I haven’t seen one pop up here yet, and I wanted to continue sending/receiving seeds, so I went ahead and created one.

[email protected]

For anyone wanting to trade extra seeds, or request specific seeds, hopefully this will be our community.

No matter the ball type or style you play, get a grip, fake a throw, and dodge a ball, here at the dball community for all. https://lemmy.world/c/Dodgeball

I first began playing dodgeball at the age of 14 in 2001 at after school free play events, and the hosts got the inspiration to get the ball rolling from the NES Super Dodgeball video game. At the time, I was completely unaware of any existence of competitive events for the sport, but 12 years later, I was selected to represent my country on the international level, and I've now gained experience with the sport in 7 countries.

I'm ready to return to Ukraine, to help them stay active and healthy through the sport of dodgeball, and to help them practice their English. In 2021 I hosted a few English speaking clubs and dodgeball practices in Odesa, Ukraine. I recently released a free downloadable early access alpha version of a simple 2D video game about dodgeball and idioms, to help people who are learning English, and having proceeds of game sales to create more dodgeball events and English speaking clubs in Ukraine, and more, which you can read more about on this Lemmy post at https://lemmy.world/post/33040433

Made this community after a few disagreements with the mod/admin policies on [email protected]

And [email protected] seems mostly trolls

Hello friends,

Seeing a lack of a generalized video game meme community, I made one: [email protected]

ETA: Proper link, as required by rules

I'm new to forum moderation so if anyone spots anything in the rules or sumn that needs changing, I'm happy to make changes. Hopefully this can be a headache-free place for video game laughs and lighthearted discussions. :D

Feel free to make suggestions for icon/banner too, haven't thought of what to use for the banner yet...

I posted that DIY mental health resources folder but tbh it's probably just better as a community. I picked dbzero honestly mostly because it has a wiki function but also it has a pretty strong neurodiverse community. This is a more specifically skill-based group than just a general support group (although that's not discouraged). I just think it's an area that most support communities don't offer and that I think people could use.

this is probably gonna be controversial, but i mean this for people who actually follow christ's teachings and not to be a cesspool of homophobia and transphobia.

After seeing so many people feel so ostracized I wanted a community they could feel welcomed in. This is I hope going to be a positive male-orienated space. No alpha male Peterson bullshit, no sexism, no putting down people, this is a space for men to bring each other up and vent their issues they would otherwise be judged for to people who will understand and build them up rather than bring them down.

Hey there,

I have created a community on lemmy.world: mythosofolivier dedicated to Slavic, Ancient Egyptian, Celtic and Mesopotamian mythology; of course, any other pantheons or legends are more than welcome.

One can:

Share academic papers, lecture notes or personal essays Post your own artwork, fiction, or poems Comparative chats (Is Inanna more like Isis or perhaps Freya?) Questions, insights or just marvels at mythic oddities

Not a sect, just a space for myth-geeks.

Do you have a confession that is just too unique. Post it here. Don't substitute this for therapy.

Nerdcore is back (lemmy.zip)
submitted 2 weeks ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Hi All,

I've moved Nerdcore from lemm.ee to lemmy.zip (via trusty copy and paste...) It would be awesome if you find your way over there. We got some nice nerdy lyrics on a variety of music genres.

Fun Fact: MC Frontalot coined the term “nerdcore” in the early 2000s :)

Cheers, peet

New Communities

A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules for behavior are a straight carry over of Mastodon.World's rules. You can click the link but we've reposted them here in brief, as a guideline. We will continue to use the Mastodon.World rules as the master list. Over all, be nice to each other and remember this isn't a community built around debate. For the rules about formatting your posts, scroll down to number 2.

1. Follow the rules of Mastodon.world, which can be found here.

A. Provide an inclusive and supportive environment. This means if it isn't rulebreaking and we can't be supportive to them then we probably shouldn't engage.

B. No illegal content.

C. Use content warnings where appropriate. This means mark your submissions NSFW if need be.

D. No uncivil behavior. This includes, but is not limited to: Name Calling; Bullying; Trolling; Disruptive Commenting; or Personal Criticisms.

E. No Harrassment. As an example in relation to Transgender people this includes, deadnaming, misgendering, and promotion of conversion therapy. Similarly Misogyny, Misandry, and Racism are also banned here.

2. Include a community or instance title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities or instances all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/[email protected])

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

[email protected]

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.
