I've played most popular roguelikes like Balatro, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells, etc. So are there any good Android games that aren't roguelikes?

I've watched Frieren. The magic system is my favorite aspect despite its simplicity and a few balance flaws. One thing I've noticed in most anime is that the protagonist always has a very basic ability/power so that they can fight a variety of enemies and not get hard countered. The same is true for Frieren; however, the big difference here is that the protagonists are completely aware of this trope and thus use it to their advantage. I don't even know if what I said was related to worldbuilding, but I still wanted to say it anyway.

I loved watching Dungeon Meshi. Very casual, fun, and sometimes intense. I didn't think too much about its worldbuilding before but now that you say it, it is indeed very detailed.

For me, it has to be HXH and One Piece. Are there any other shows that can compete with those two's worldbuilding?

Right now, I don't have a PC. Long ago, when I did have one, the first AAA game I ever played was Red Dead Redemption 2. I have played other games, but I feel like RDR2 surpasses all of them and is legitimately one of the greatest games ever made. The amount of details dedicated to realism, the solid storyline, the amazing graphics, NPCs getting angry/creeped out when you follow them for too long, and the hilarious antagonistic insults. I can just go on and on about this game. This is undoubtedly Rockstar's best achievement yet, and I can't wait to see how they top it with GTA 6 releasing next year.

If you've seen my other post on this comm, you probably know why I am asking this. However, even if I did have a PC, I don't think I would have the time and energy to play a game anyway. That's why I'm now starting to prefer walkthroughs/playthroughs over actually playing the game myself. I know it's not a replacement for a PC but it's still enjoyable regardless. Also, my very first exposure to big games was actually through YouTube lets plays in the first place. What do you all think?

Requires registration. Also, are there no other instances of it? Also also, what protocol does it use?

Preferably with no required registration.

Which launcher to use? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 month ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I've tried lawnchair and kvaesito. Lawnchair was good feature-wise but it is really glitchy and would break a ton of times. Kvaesito is not a traditional launcher but rather search-based which is not my thing. I've also heard about Niagara but I haven't tried it and it's also closed-source so I don't really want to use it. Are there any up-to-date open source launchers with a decent amount of features other than the ones I've mentioned?

Unfortunately, I have a Mali GPU so it's highly unlikely any game will work on my phone. As for retroid pockets, I'll see if there's any in my area.

I sold my PC yesterday because of financial struggles and as far as I'm aware, I would probably be unable to buy a PC or console ever again. That said, I still want to somehow experience the games I would otherwise want to play on PC. I'm thinking of watching let's plays but of course, that's not the same as actually playing them. For those in the same boat, what do you do? Do you just let go? Or maybe watch playthroughs? I'm curious.

I've seen a lot of memes/jokes related to moths looking for lamps. Why does the community love these memes? What's the point?

So you're essentially saying that I should blend the hints into scenes so that they don't get noticed? That's a cool technique, I will definitely try that! This also reminded of the twist from Oldboy, I loved the hints upon rewatching! They led the audience into the wrong path, made them think the wrong outcome. I absolutely loved the very first hint in the movie, the way it tricks you into thinking something else and you just completely forget about it after a couple of minutes. Brilliant movie, loved it.

While I know that not all stories need twists, I want to try writing them anyway because they're challenging/tricky.

About plot twists (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I've a researched a bit about writing plot twists properly. The conclusion I came to was simply: Twists shouldn't be too predictable but they shouldn't be completely random either. There was also this method a writer used which was simply: 20% of the audience should figure out the twist LONG before it's revealed and about 80% of the audience should figure it out JUST before it's revealed. These are all great advice but I'm struggling to apply them properly. Thing is: I often have a hard time thinking from the audience's POV. I'm not struggling with writing twists themselves but rather the foreshadowing/hints. I'm curious, how do you all incorporate your hints into the story? How many hints are there? How do you exactly employ hints, via dialogue? Via a character's actions? Via small visual details? Do you employ hints in only one way or several? Simply put, I'm trying to ask the following: How do you all put hints/foreshadowing of a plot twist into the story?

Thanks, I didn't know that Lutris used proton when necessary. I don't need steam to run lutris's versions of proton, right?

I don't even know if this is allowed here but frankly, I don't care. I have seen conflicting guides on how to play cracked games. Some say to use lutris/wine, some say to use proton with steam and add the cracked games to steam though that carries a significant risk of a ban. So to all Linux pirates, how do you do this?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

What about games? Do you only play Foss?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

To clarify, I use FMHY as my piracy wiki. Also, does disabling my internet also prevent connection of pirated software or no?

Pirated and OS software are different things, obviously. But would you prefer one over the other? I'm thinking of switching to both OS software AND pirated software. Just want opinions and tips from this community.

The UI seems overwhelming to a noob like me. How do I make it so that the screen doesn't turn off when a certain app is open with a battery limit?

Can't argue with that.
