About a year ago I gave up on blaming this idiot or calling him out on every stupid thing he said ....

Instead, I see the US as one giant mass of morons that put up with this shit and do absolutely nothing about it.

This is the first thing I thought of when the corn memes started.

I spend more money on Halloween than I do on Christmas. And every year I realize it more and more ... I'm spending money on Halloween to share it all with a bunch of strangers and their children rather than on my own family and friends.

I already give lots to my family throughout the year, I don't need a special holiday to justify those relationships. I used to spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on decorations, suppers, gifts and doing things for family in or around Christmas and none of it ever made a damned difference. I still love my family but it wasn't because of Christmas ... it was because they are my family. I don't do any of that any more and you know? I still have the same level of appreciation for my family and they do the same for me ... without all the BS of Christmas fanfare.

But on Halloween, I'm giving more to random strangers I don't even know or will probably never meet again during the year ... and all just for the sake of being nice to them.

So now I find that Halloween is a more giving and fun holiday than Christmas. It's made me realize just how wholesome Halloween is compared to the commercialized hellhole that Christmas has become.

All my Youtube feeds are filling up with AI videos made within the past month or two. It's just an endless stream of newly created content made by people who are just chasing after just a little bit of attention. It's all just rehashed crap, remade videos scraped from previous videos, remixed and remade again and again.

It wasn't so noticeable a year ago but now it's getting worse. It's just an endless stream of new AI videos and there is more and more every day.

A year ago, it was decently made AI video with a bit of realistic content ... now it's just all made up crap of all sorts filled with all kinds of made up information to sound as authentic as possible. It's so easy to just scrape together a bunch of content, send it all through an AI and make it sound like some sort of authentic documentary that would fool the least attentive viewer.

Then realized the live stream had been going non stop for the past five years.

Hi all, I'm a long time Star Trek fan. I've watched just about every major Star Trek series so far ... I've watched so much over the years that I'm starting to rewatch stuff again.

I thought I'd give The Orville a chance and I started watching a few days ago. Just finished episode four and I have to say .... I'm loving it.

It kinda harkens back to Star Trek The Next Generation ... and more like what happened in that universe with Picard's cousin's mother's uncle's former college roomate's brother in another sector of the galaxy. It has enough weight to feel like it delivers a story ... and enough goofiness to not take itself so seriously.

I feel special now after having witnessed Bortus incubate his egg with this mate Klyden and give birth to their daughter/son.

We're watching the show and on episode three at the moment and we got a lot of discussion about the whole thing.

One of the discussions we had was ..... What would you do?

My wife and I were in agreement ... if it were either of us, we would just ask for a big fancy mansion in some warm part of the world with access to a highway system. We ride motorcycles so we would order a garage with about a dozen motorcycles and ask to be placed in the Italian south near the ocean. We'd have a chef make us food all day and be served by three or four servants. We'd deal with the alien whatever that took over and ask them to leave us alone and not bother trying to assimilate us. We'd ask that if they don't bother us, we will never bother them.

Then we'd spend every day just riding the Italian countryside ... there would be no traffic! Then if we got bored of that, we'd ask for short holidays to another part of the world for a week or two. Otherwise, we'd spend our days watching every movie and TV show we ever wanted to see and ride every day and arrive home to the best food in the world.

I keep saying 'we' ... but we both agreed ... if it was just me, I'd do the same ... and if it was just my wife, she'd do the same as well.

If we can't do much about anything, might as well enjoy what is left.

So for everyone else reading this ....

What would you do?

Every time I go to cut food, I always get annoyed by the hand opening. I'm not always handling the board so much to need a hand hold. It's always laying flat. The only time I need the hand hold is when I pick it up.

Then today, I realized ..... it's a melee weapon.

I just finished watching a couple of the Bourne movies and I always enjoy a good fantasy break from reality once in a while. But as I watched it again, I began to notice more and more plot holes to everything and it became a game to me as I watched and noticed how in so many instances, Jason Bourne just wanders around in public with no masks or facial changes, yet in the background, they keep showing these sophisticated control stations by the CIA/FBI/Secret agencies that can monitor and scan literally anything and everything all at once. I know its movie magic but the film at one extreme leads us to believe that they can monitor everything ... yet on the other hand, their key suspect is able to just wander around in public without anyone seeing him.

So I thought to myself how it would be hilarious if someone digitally remastered one of the Bourne movies and turned every single character and person that appears into Jason Bourne ... even the women, black guys, Middle Eastern people, Asians, big fat people, children, old ladies ... main characters, officers, government officials, the president of the United States, waiters, agents, soldiers, background people ... make them all Jason Bourne.

I was visiting friends and I needed to find a motorcycle shop in the area. Found this shop called The Cycle Therapist and the first thing I thought of was the SNL skit with Jeopardy with Alex Trebek and Sean Connery.

I began calling the shop

"Cycle The Rapist"

It's Mel Brooks' 99th Birthday today ... for anyone that's ever memed, they are sure to have referenced Mel Brooks at one point or another.

Modern comedy wouldn't be the same without him.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day to everyone. I know right now there is not much cause to celebrate with the passing of an Ontario government Bill 5 and Federal Government Bill C5 that directly threaten First Nation lands, people and rights.

We've always dealt with issues, events, changes and developments ... it's become our ongoing legacy to constantly fight and we are and will continue to fight on.

What everyone doesn't understand is that we are not just fighting for ourselves, its a fight to protect the future of our people and of all Ontario and all Canada as well. Unrestrained and uncontrolled resource development only destroys the land, air and water ... the same land, air and water we all share no matter our race, group or identity.

It's also a fight for the future, as from the quote from Wendell Berry ....

“We do not inherit the earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children.”

The quote is often attributed as a wise old Native saying or proverb but in actual fact the modern quote comes from an environmentalist in the environmental, ecological movement.

Saying the environment to save ourselves and the future generations to come is not just an idea central to First Nation belief systems .... it's a belief system by those who can see beyond the length of their own lifespans.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day everyone.

I'm up in Canada so we are all just on edge watching to see what will happen tomorrow for mass protesting.

Whatever happens, everyone stay safe, protect and guard yourself from danger and keep aware of your surroundings. Stay with a small group of allies and keep yourselves safe.

If you are not prepared and don't know what you are doing .... stay back and don't become front line fodder.

If you are prepared and equipped, stay safe, protect yourself, run and hide if you must. I'd rather see you running than to be put in danger.

Whatever you do tomorrow to take part, we're all cheering for our American brothers and sisters standing for democratic rights and fighting against fascism.

So the message is ...... if you are contacted by any law or legal service in the US .... hide and disappear, don't take part in anything to do with government or law enforcement.

Great work America ... a few more steps and it will become a completely lawless country.

The biggest issue that no one ever wants to talk about is ....

... it's isn't about the QUANTITY of life

.... it's about the QUALITY of life.

If people are able to have a comfortable, stable and prosperous life, with plenty of their own free time to enjoy without worrying about losing everything then they'll make time and an effort to have a family and children.

If all our wealthy overlords ever want to do is squeeze every penny out of us all the time, then people will be less likely to want to have children.

We are the bridge generation.

We know and saw a world without the internet and we experienced it when it first came to be.

We saw the first mass produced computers and computer devices which broke often, didn't work the way we wanted them to, they weren't fast and they didn't have much memory in any way. We were the first generation to see all this. Our parents were too old and busy to figure it out but we were young enough to be curious about it all. We also kept wanting to have the newest fastest hardware and software so we had no choice but to either buy, beg or steal these things to get them. We learned to swap parts, add parts, remove parts, install an OS, uninstall the OS, run backups, store data and learn it all on our own because there was no easy internet social media community to help you. Software was constantly changing and we had to keep up by either buying expensive titles or we learned about Linux and open source software or we became digital pirates or both.

Now the digital landscape has changed. Younger generations prefer handheld devices so to them everything is solid state ... they never can imagine changing the RAM, HDD, SSD, CPU, GPU or the PSU or even bothering to learn what those things are. Because everything is built in and no one (or very few) people bother with fixing or tinkering with anything. There are fewer people who learn about software and about how or where to find it, install it, configure it and run it. To new generations who only know the digital world through locked devices, there was less incentive to learn or even have access to know how these things worked.

We are the bridge generation. We got to see the world without the internet and the world with one. No one before us got to see what we saw, no one after us will experience what we went through. Our civilization dramatically changed during our lifetime and we got a front row seat.

This is one of the dumbest things about conservatives in the US ...... we're going to start a civil war - for Trump.

I could agree to many political arguments about rebelling against your own government but to say you want to start a civil war to defend a completely morally bankrupt individual that has absolutely no care for you at all has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever had the opportunity to see and hear.

For anyone wondering, this is an actual photo of Israeli soldiers posing with a Palestinian female prisoner.

For context, here is a link to a France 24 news article from 2010 that references this same photo
