Compared with incumbent governments elsewhere in the world, Democrats' losses were modest.

That's post-election copium. That was hardly mentioned at all before the election. And why would it be? The US never compares itself seriously to other countries.

And in the House, they gained a seat, leaving the GOP with the second-smallest majority in history.
