Our D&D campaign is wrapping up after 2 years or so and my character who is a 2 1/2 foot tall Faerie is going to be given some award for service at Queen Titania's court. She needs a dress! I've been using a vtubing set up to play in character for the last 6 months or so and I would love some feedback about what works and what doesn't with this dress. It's very basic at the moment, I have not done any texture work really, it's just a flat colour with a black border. There's no notions or decorations or anything. And I need the model ready for Tuesday so I can't do anything SUPER crazy, but I could spend a couple of days adding some stuff. I'd like to add something to wrap around the shoulders and arms and I have an idea for that, think like a boa but instead of fuzzy it would be a lacy bit of fabric that would drape around and reach the floor after falling off each wrist.

Does the colour work? Should I use a different colour for the accent other than black? Help!

I don't think I'm quite the target of this comment because I don't pretend it doesn't exist or that it isn't something that people use or care about. But I do avoid using AI for anything that matters.. like at all. I also refuse to use chatgpt or any of the commercial offerings. I do play around with locally hosted stuff because the tech is interesting, but there is no way I would ever put my faith in it. Also, my feelings toward the biggest players in the industry are at best "disgust". So I don't want to use their products.

So my question then how exactly can I be in the room to help shape decisions? The only two levers I have to pull is whether or not to send those companies money, and whether to even use the free services or not.

What exactly am I supposed to do? The companies will just make whatever models and tune them however they feel will achieve whatever goals they have regardless. And presently, their goals do not align with mine.

I won't be surprised when we are fucked. I promise you that. I can see that coming. But I feel utterly powerless to stop the tech fascists.

"Let’s set aside the obvious conflict of interest and ethics questions at play here —" You can't, and you shouldn't.

"We can even skip over the security implications pointed out by a cybersecurity expert in the Times piece. " You can't, and you shouldn't.

"As a practical matter alone, there’s no obvious reason to add another ISP in order to improve Wi-Fi coverage" It doesn't take an entire paragraph to figure out what's going on here let alone an entire article.

lmao I'm sorry I am 100% for gun regulation but this some big boomer energy and NOT the way to appeal to youth. If the intent is to say "Hey, we have no idea about what you are into but we are pretty sure we know better than you. Go to your room! No video games for a week!" then it's probably working.

Currently I have a 40 inch LG that I bought so long ago that I don't even remember, but with where I sit to view it reading text it a little difficult for me. Playing games on it is more or less a no go. I'd also like to upgrade to hdr and enjoy some 4k movies on a display that will let them shine. Accurate colours are something that is more important to me than not. My budget would be CAD $1000-$2000. I sit about 3m away from where the tv would be mounted and I don't have the best eyesight so leaning on the larger side would be better?

I find looking up recommendations on youtube to be pretty difficult. There are a lot of channels that talk about them but they end up only really recommending stuff out of my price range or they conflict with what other people had said about those tvs. Some people recommend the more budget oriented options, others say to stay away like the plague!

Edit: One hard requirement is that it must be usable if it's not connected to any network. The television will NEVER connect to the internet. If I need to connect it to get past a nag screen that is a deal breaker. For all intents and purposes, it will be a dumb tv. As dumb as I can make it. As dumb as they come.

Good for Will Ferrell! We love a good ally. Do not go to the comments section though, the trolls are out.

Yes Louis Brennan designed a gyroscopic monorail in the early 1900's but there's a reason it didn't work out. Every car needs its own gyroscope which is a lot of dynamic components that need maintenance. A regular two rail train is much simpler and cheaper to operate. The idea these techbros have that everything is made better with individual pods is pretty wasteful when we already have better and cheaper solutions to virtually every problem they have tried to invent for us. Are we even super concerned about rural folks taking transit? By definition they are a small portion of the population and have the greatest need for personal transport. Where we need transit adoption is in urban areas with large populations who all want to drive their personal 2 tonnes of plastic and steel right into town and park it (for free obviously) in their own little parking space.

A gadgetbahn like this will only serve a limited population and won't be able to tie into the existing transit network. There might be niche situations where it's not a terrible idea but it is not a good generalized solution.

I'm looking to be able to store assets that I've created and purchased (both 3d models and images, potentially audio in the future) on my nas and would love to be able to use something to browse them and filter or sort them based on what kind of usage license I have for them. So if I'm doing a commission I can filter out the "personal use only" assets available. As the primary use is for visual arts assets, large preview images would be perfect. Teeny tiny icons not nearly as useful when browsing through image elements to find something you like.

I'm really looking for a self hosted option, ideally one with a docker container available but I could also spin up a virtual machine to host it if required.

Does anyone know of something that would fit the bill?

Dang, this is such a cool project and it's a shame this is happening to it. It's understandable that Valve wants to be nowhere near Nintendo's proprietary libraries though. I hope this isn't the end of the project full stop.

Well, the article (at least in the free part.. I'm not making an account just to fact check this site) mentions two studies right off the bat and claims that they shed light on the impact of corporate trolls on Reddit.

"Two significant studies, the Pew Research Center study conducted in 2018 and the Computers in Human Behavior study published in 2020, have shed light on the prevalence and impact of corporate trolls on Reddit."

If you look up these studies, the Pew Research Center has a survey they conduct and although the article claims they interviewed 2500 americans who use reddit the actual study had only 2,002 adults. It was also a study about what sites they used. It had nothing to do with Reddit. In fact, if you switch over to the Detailed Table, Reddit wasn't even mentioned as a response. https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2018/03/01/social-media-use-2018-methodology/

I could not find a "Computers in Human Behavior study published in 2020" that matched the article's description. I did find a study published by them in 2020 about selfies and body image and especially snapchat. Once again, no reddit. But I can't say I found the article mentioned.

Then again, I can't say the articles mentioned exist at all. ChatGPT almost certainly hallucinated this.

Does the Fediverse have more of a mental health problem than other social media sites? Or is it just more visible and more likely to be hidden away?

I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to add the summoner archetype to a character AFTER you've unlocked it. I have already gone through that ordeal and can select the summoner as a new character. But I'd like to add the summoner to a new gunslinger and don't know if the grimoire might be available in the ward. I hope it is! But I suspect it is not.

Edit: As luck would have it, and it is fantastically lucky, I ended up getting a bloodmoon immediately after posting this question. In case you are wondering about how to unlock it, here's what I know

spoilerYou can look up guides on how to unlock the class and that's easy enough. You need to craft an item at an altar, and it is going to cost you blood moon essence which you can farm from wisps that spawn during a blood moon. What you don't find online is how to actually spawn the blood moon. I do not have good news here. It seems random and extremely rare. I have tried killing the doe as suggested. No bloodmoon. Travelling back and forth between the ward and yeasha, no bloodmoon. Just walking through doors. No bloodmoon. I did this for hours. SO. It seems like getting the bloodmoon is rare and just pure luck until someone can figure out the mechanics of it.

BUT if you do get a bloodmoon harvest the wisps as fast as you can, and then go through a doorway into a dungeon. Not the crystal, you don't want to reset the monsters. Just go through a yellow loading door and back and the wisps will respawn. Farm up as many as you can. You need 15 for the class and then there's an armour set if you want to go for it. I don't remember how much all that is because I've never managed to farm up enough wisps lol. For this character I just happened into a bloodmoon and there weren't many wisps spawned in. I only saw three, so I just kept moving into the dungeon and back to respawn those three wisps until the bloodmoon was over.

Anyway, I found a lot of guessing online, most of it wrong, about this so at least I can provide some experience. Good luck and good hunting!

"Privacy features like user-agent reduction, IP reduction, preventing cross-site storage, and fingerprint randomization make it more difficult to distinguish or reidentify individual clients, which is great for privacy, but makes fighting fraud more difficult. This matters to users because making the web more private without providing new APIs to developers could lead to websites adding more:"

Ohhh it's fighting fraud that they want to do! And here I thought it was entirely for the much more profitable goal of maintaining advertising revenue. Well, I'm SO GLAD to be wrong on that one. Slash S.

TLDR; there's no tracking and it requires a piece of hardware in between the psvr2 and pc. But they got past one major technical hurdle.

It's precisely ChatGPT's inability to link the sources that is the concern.

"Bike theft isn't just a nuisance. It's a serious problem plaguing almost every city in the world, and it stifles bike-friendliness, discourages people from riding, fuels crime and undermines our sense of community. Yet almost no cities are doing anything to seriously tackle the problem. "

This is a great video from Shifter about the benefits of bicycle registries. If you cycle in an area with a bike theft problem, chances are the police recover a lot more bikes than they can ever return because they simply have no way of knowing who to give the bike back to. One tool you can use to protect your bike is to register your bike with a service that the police are able to access. Tom's video focuses on Project 529 Garage in Canada, but there are similar services worldwide. There's a list here on wikipedia.

Good luck out there!
