UPDATED 11.10.24: Here's my list of Anime communities on the Fediverse (sopuli.xyz)

Due to a quirk of how federation works, you cannot discover communities or magazines through search or on "all", until at least one other user on your instance has manually triggered federation to be "initialized" by searching for that exact community/magazine.

I thought it would be good to keep a list to help us all find the places wed like to participate in. So far, I've found, and created some of what is listed below. If you know about or start a new community/magazine, comment! I'll update the list.

Mods of anime communities/magazines, consider copying parts of, or the whole list, into your sidebars.

On Lemmy, if a link does not work on your instance, it into search. If browsing from Kbin, replace /c/ in url with /m/ or enter the community name with an @ instead of ! in search.

Users on Fedia.io/Lemmy.ml

Your instance does not federate with ani.social, the largest (only?) anime centered instance. Consider setting up an account somewhere else, or maybe on ani.social.

I managed to find this post somehow but I can inform you that there's a community for Tsukihime that I've created early on, it's on a smaller instance that doesn't wage defederation wars so it should be accessible to almost anyone.

Additionally if you want to appear in our sidebar you can reach out to me over DMs on this account or PM me on mastodon at @[email protected]. (this goes for any anime community; discoverability on lemmy is pretty lackluster)

Thanks to @[email protected] for bringing to my attention some recent bans happening on the ml instance. That caused me to check the status of the ml communities listed here. Two communities seem to have been removed:
