Here's a quick breakdown of the history. I'll get you more sources when I'm not on mobile.
https://www.jstor.org/stable/41036243 https://www.husj.harvard.edu/articles/the-ukrainian-language-in-documents-and-in-reality https://www.jstor.org/stable/24600855 https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2022/04/22/ukraine-language-history-archive
I will note that you have just given me two more of that same wikipedia article's sources
The first source looks more viable, i will be trying to read through it.
"When Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, Ukrainian language and writing were repressed and banned." (this is the first sentence of a minor segment in your second linked article)
Like I said I'm on mobile and that's what I had available to copy and paste.
Do some reading of your own. I don't expect you to take my word for it even though I lived through it both in Ukraine and Poland. Arguably Poland had it worse when it game to Russification.
Like what other evidence are you looking for? Most of it is going to be written history of people who lived through it. You're not going to find some official documents stating such and such thing was ordered.
government documents decreeing bans on minority languages and cultures
Again i am not saying there wasn't russification and that it wasn't a huge thing that the soviet union tried to push
why though, every racist regime ever has such things
racist governments have racist laws and decrees, thats what makes it racist. Like i can easily bring up the time the soviet government forced the mongolians to adopt acrylic text in teachings. There could easily be such evidence if it exists for banning of ukraine language.
unless you are 50 you did not live through the soviet bloc, which is what im talking about specifically. I will not dispute the policies of imperial and modern russia.
Not trying to discard them, the soviets did things wrong, but you cannot base it purely off of anecdotal evidence.
I'm in my 60s. 😉😫
damn lol
I feel the same way 😅
thank you, i will read through them
