oh, you're asking the opposite of what I thought.
Up until a week ago, yes they were still denying the genocide and suppressing attempts to talk about it (they call it "orientalism"). I think they've been too swamped to do much since then.

I don't understand that rumor, a simple search on lemmy.ml/c/worldnews shows a lot of posts talking about the Uyghurs: https://lemmy.ml/search/q/Uyghurs/type/Posts/sort/New/listing_type/All/community_id/14788/creator_id/0/page/1

If they remove orientalist posts, that seems fair since the rules of the instances states that they don't allow biggotery. I would rather have those removed so we can have more constructive discussions around articles about the same topic but written in good faith, nobody wants lemmy to turn into the same troll farm that was reddit.
