I don't give a fuck what they think when they only show up two or three times every four years. And then when they do show up, instead of helping, they just denigrate good people who actually show up consistently.

If they show up consistently and have my back, I'll have theirs. If we have the numbers and some bullshit is pulled to keep us down, I'll raise hell with them.

Until then those lazy dilettantes can eat my entire ass.

    Gee I can't possibly tell why somebody would be turned off by the idea of volunteering with you. 🙄

    Couldn't possibly be the 20 minute rant they get for disagreeing with you "denigrating good (read 'my') people"

    I’m in the same camp as Roscoe here. There are a bunch of people I disagree with on plenty of topics within democratic and left-leaning spaces who otherwise are doing the lion’s share in all varieties of GOTV, local or federal organizing and elections support activities like being a poll judge. I will have their back all day every day.

    Disagreement ain’t an issue, coming in at the 11th hour and expecting me to bend over backwards for their pet thing 100% is.

    Do I REALLY need to tell you it's not a surprise you don't make long term volunteers out of new people by treating them the way Y'all do? Go reread those comments and tell me you'd hang around after being treated that way.

    It's not a surprise because "leftists" generally don't actually care about stuff like minority rights. If you getting your feelings hurt means it isn't even worth visiting a polling booth for those once every 4 years then how can anyone believe you actually give a shit?

    So I'm supposed to show up everyday to help people who insult me all day advocate for policies I don't support in hopes that one day something I DO care about maybe gets a flier? No thanks faschie.

    I find it fascinating that Roscoe started this reply thread calling out people who come in and demand support at the last moment while insulting and berating people doing the day in and day out work to get people elected that can slow or reverse our nation-wide shift towards authoritarianism.

    And ends with the one whining about being expected to work together for a goal calling those doing the work fascists.

    What a coincidence…

    I’ve seriously had one terminally online individual inform me that basically yelling at people on Twitter was far more effective than any local organization for a candidate or cause.

    Treating them how, by not letting them yell at and verbally accost people who do come back time after time, because that was the original complaint? You think someone who barges in last minute like that is easily swayed as to what’s proven to be effective? You can’t make a long time volunteer out of someone that has no interest or humility about learning what actually works to change things, horses to water and all that…

    Not my people, quite the opposite, although I respect them.

    They're just the people who are actually putting in the work. Unlike your people who's idea of effort is wiping the Cheeto dust off their fingers before they post.

    But don't worry, just keep screaming impotently into the void. I'm sure progressive candidates with strong organizations will start magically appearing any day now if you just keep posting hard enough on Lemmy. No need to get off your couch.

    Yeah I'm definitely going to lend my manpower to people who shriek about anybody left of Biden eating cheetos and upholding the dnc as the saviors of "democracy" after telling the nominee to eat shit then telling their voters to eat shit and watching Biden sidestep congress to fund genocide.

    Are you illiterate? I started this saying not only am I left of Biden, I'm left of Bernie. I'm not taking about leftists. I'm taking about "leftists" who do nothing but whine then show up once every four years to loudly complain things didn't go their way when they didn't lift a Cheeto stained finger (outside of online echo chambers) to make things go their way.

    This weekend I'll be canvassing with three other people for a progressive candidate for local office. Her establishment opponent has over two dozen canvassers. When the voting guides are printed maybe we'll be lucky enough to have ours listed as neutral with an endorsement for the establishment.

    If you lazy fucks showed up maybe we could get parity on name recognition, and if you had been at meetings all year maybe both could be endorsed on the guide. A quarter of the Bernie Bros that showed up yelling in 2016 coming back regularly would drastically change the entire county.

    When those fair weather friends showed up in 2016, I wasn't saying "eat shit leftists," I was saying "where the fuck have you been."

    Now that I think about it, you shouldn't show up. If you're so weak and thin-skinned that a Cheeto crack gets you all butt-hurt, you wouldn't last five doors canvassing.

    So you admit it - People showed up, you talked shit, so they left. That's how it works. Again, why should I help you if when I DO show up you just show me EXACTLY how unwanted I am? YOU'RE the problem, and when Trump wins you only have YOURSELF to blame.

    Fuck, are you really this dense? No one actually said that to them, even if we wanted to we couldn't get a word in edgewise. That's what we were thinking though. If they showed up to help instead of yell they would have been welcomed.

    And, yes, your weak-ass is unwanted. And you are "simultaneously stupid cheeto stained babies but also the single cause of every Republican win." You're one because you're the other, they are not mutually exclusive.
