I setup Kodi yesterday it works well but the UI is terrible.

There's heaps of different themes (they call them Skins in the wiki), or UIs I guess. I'm currently running Amber with a few tweaks through the setting of the theme itself. The default I think is called Confluence maybe... There's lots you can try, even ones that make it look like an apple Tv.

Edit. Would also recommend looking into real-debrid and running the Seren add-on.

If you're going to use Real Debrid and have an Android TV device of some sort (Nvidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, the sketchy Android TV boxes that Jaycar sell with 10 year old Android versions, etc), then you may as well use a more modern app like Weyd or Syncler. Much nicer UX that's more responsive.
