Panettone as economic indicator.
Every year I go to Brunswick to buy xmas panettones and other treats. They are usually sold out by the 1st week of Dec . This year prices are up again and the shelves were still full. Talking to another customer she was telling me they just can't afford it, entertaining family and friends they buy quite a few and that would quickly add up to close to $200 each event.
Other years I would buy two at xmas , this year, one
My family used to gift fruitcake at Xmas. These things weighed multiple kilos, were damn near solid fruit, and could almost get you drunk by smell. The cost now would be mindboggling!
I was reading xmas puds are $70!! They do tend to feed 20 tho.
Panettone is gag. I've tried and I've never liked it.
