General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

She also got sent a picture and said someone was racist towards her. Must be true then. She is a Tory, they never lie for their own benefit.

Doesn't matter what her politics are - racism is never acceptable

Racism is never acceptable, true. I also believe people have been racist towards her in her life. And I am pretty positiv this is a narrative she is spinning to gain votes.

For all I care she can pound sand and yet I'd still defend her against racism any day.

But you are wrong that her politics don't matter. Her party is actively working towards a more intolerant society and racism towards her is a the natural consequence of these politics. You can't stoke a fire and then complain it is burning things.

Yeah I should have phrased it differently.

Yeah insult her for the parts of her that’re bad, her race isn’t a problem and shouldn’t be targeted

It matters because when the racists see what their own policy is like when used against them, it helps shapes their understanding of how and why racism is bad. Unfortunately most racists are dumb cunts who can't figure out how to breathe without reminders so racism is a tool here, much like them.

Having read the article and a few others about these incidents, I can’t really see that anything recent is racially motivated. Unless they are just withholding pertinent details.

Maybe if she wasn't standing for a party that is actively fueling a zenophobic culture war, people might be more sympathetic.

Precisely why we should spend police budgeting on an investigation. It is not unusual for some people to push their ethnicity and a victimisation claim to garner votes. If there is malice behind it, then she deserves protection. This is a potential MP after all. But if it is a narrative just to gain votes that she would not get, then that also should be known.

I think it is fair to question it since she is resorting to the BBC media to push a storyline.

I am with you on that one. I am also disappointed by the BBC.
