Excuse my dumb ass but I'm filling a hole in the door and this is my filling so far. Do I leave it to dry now for a few hours and come back to paint it? Do I need to fill more putty in there?
Hole for reference
You gotta sand that before painting. That's rough as at the moment. It might take letting it harden, sanding, re-fill, sand again, then paint. You could take the pins out of the hinges if you had somewhere else to paint the door.
I did sand it before filing in the putty, but if it still feels rough then I'll re-fill and paint again. Don't have more space to pain the door elsewhere unfortunately so this will have to do I guess.
Yo that’s fantastic. If that filler is still wet , take all that excess off around the hole. It will be a pain in the arse to sand when it’s dry and by the looks of it, you’ll need a top coat of filler anyway.
Got some of it but there's still a small layer on the side, hopefully not an issue to sand it out. By a top coat of filler, do you mean another layer of putty on top of this one, wait till dry, sand again and then paint?
I'd leave it to dry (still looks damp) and give it a bit of a sanddpaper back before you paint.
That's the plan! Thanks oztrin!
