Gacy was a great member of the community and helped at hospitals and charitable event but he also murdered a lot of people and I can say he was evil. Is Hawley evil I would say yes, can he do right things sometimes? Sure but his end game is inherently evil
Anyone that supported Gacy while he helped at hospitals has nothing to be ashamed about. Supporting Hawley when his views align with yours makes sense.
Exactly, that's why we can support this but also understand that Hawley is a bad/evil person.
I think that's a false analogy
Hawley supported and raised a fist to a violent insurrection that led to death, Hawley refuses to support gun regulations that could save more kids... the guy has blood on his hands
John Wayne gacy raped, tortured, and murdered children. False analogy.
Hawleys actions have led to the murder of children
Hawley did not torture, rape, and kill children. False analogy.
If you hand Gacy the knife he kills his victims with knowing that the only reason to have this knife is to kill kids are you not culpable in gacys crimes? Hawley kills kids. Or you tell people to go commit a violent insurrection and commit crimes are you not responsible for the crimes they commit?
I don't care for Josh Hawley. I wouldn't ever even consider voting for him. I'll be happy if he's voted out of office but comparing him to John Wayne Gacy isn't intellectually honest and you'll never convince me otherwise. 100% False analogy.
My point was more things that appear not evil can actually be inheritly evil. You said he isn't evil, and outside he maybe seems like a normal guy but in the end he is inheritly evil.
I said he isn't evil incarnate and I stand by that. I think that there are people who can murder and torture without remorse and I'd describe those people as evil. Then there are people I disagree with. On a lot of stuff. But I don't think they're evil. I think they're misguided. I know people who have made mistakes in their life and then years later they regret their actions. Evil is a strong word that I don't like throwing around flippantly.
Yeah he isn't the devil come to earth, I'll agree to that. But he might be a very patient demon.
No
Yes
Banality of evil
Complicity and profit at the expense of murdered children means something, innit?
Hawley was elected by people who are against gun control. If he didn't exist they would have elected someone else who is against gun control. Equating him to someone who literally raped and murdered children is insane.
Raping, torturing, and murdering children then burying them in your crawlspace is different. It's a false analogy. You're not going to convince me otherwise and downvotes don't bother me.
