I could never get spinach to do anything either , I think they need a very free draining sandy soil and I just used ordinary potting mix ๐คทโโ๏ธ
My previous ones did ok in a cheap window box of potting mix.
I just made the same mistake here as the tomatoes, of overcompensating with self watering reservoirs in case I forgot to water. Ended up killing the plants with wet feet
same, I over watered
