Just saw a couple of silvereyes pecking at the grass in my backyard. I used to see them a lot in East Brunswick back in the 80s, but not since about 1990. I'm really glad to know that they're still around. Pecking grass is a bit of a new one, as they mostly like shrubby bushland and lots of cover. Must have been a good season for them, or they've moved in from elsewhere.
They are migratory, I used to have a flock come every year to eat at the fig tree, they are so pretty ๐
