The DSA really couldn't afford an Angie Nixon loss

That stunt Hailey Stevens pulled did not come out of nowhere, she is simply the sin eater of the DNC, that kind of brinkmanship is about to become the norm among dems

The DSA to offset a centrist mandate media spin had to win every seat they contested, especially the big ones. Since they didn't they're now wide open to a massive centrist media counteroffensive that will most probably take up the bulk of 2027

Every state fliped will become a monument to moderation, utterly disconnected from the war, prices and the abuses of the Trump regime. "No the south flipped because we were transphobic, because we didn't talk about Isreal, because we said Hasan Piker sucks"

I think we just got poked under the rips and are about to start slowly bleeding out, the centrists will not use this momentum to upset the Republicans, they're gonna use it as fuel to run us over

Angie Nixon got no help from the democrats because she wasn't a zionist, and still came incredibly close to winning in fucking florida which means she has a pretty substantial support network. This election was to decide who finishes Rubio's term, so there's another election in 2 years, and tonight she basically said she's running again. I doubt the country will be in any better shape, so who knows how the dems will fuck it up in the meantime, but it's not hopeless.

The more the DSA wins, the more pushback they'll get from the democratic leadership. Forcing the centrist dems to double down on horrible policies like being pro-genocide, to the revulsion of everyone else, is a large part of the point of supporting DSA candidates.

I respectfully disagree. While I don’t think the Dems will want to concede any ground to the DSA, DSA was (successfully) involved in too many races; this is just one race. Too many democrat voters now identify as a democratic socialists. The bell can’t be unrung.

Until today, the DNC had pretty much written off Florida. The state saw a huge surge in anti-vax freaks and anti-communists from LatAm and just seemed too far out of reach. Nixon lost but so did Jolly. Jolly is right-wing democratic who used to be a republican, and Angie Nixon underperformed him by less than a percentage point. Things could have gone better for DSA but at the same time even with that loss at no point in the history of the org has DSA had as much power as they have at this moment.

DSA right actively erred on the side of caution and underestimated DSA's capacity to run candidates and contest seats (as you said, we almost won Florida of all places) but with so few candidates on the roster, that means there's no padding, no buffer, no fat to burn, when defeat inevitably rears its head, it hurts long term, because the media can still paint DSAs win/lose rate as a roulette table instead of statistical variation, voting for DSA remains a gamble in the eyes of normies

The dems are merciless, they'll shift the goalpost as soon as tomorrow and the DSA doesn't have the muscle to contest a bulked up, victory drunk, invigorated DNC

We're caught out of position, we're a small army on a dry field with the wind blowing, even an incompetent enemy can take advantage of that

The centrist Florida governor candidate didn't win either so I'm not sure. If there was a huge gap in performance I'm sure that would be pointed out

and DSA candidates won all kinds of other races ( albeit in the House and state govt, not Senate )
