Really goes to show how all these people see Japan as “the filthy brown people, but we, the great white man, shall spare them because they amuse us! Your cartoons impress us, peasant!”

Why do smartphones automatically flash on when someone opens the camera, again?

    I don't think that's it.

Notice how he says "committed by Japanese people"? What he's dogwhistling is, if Japan had even stricter migration and visa controls, there'd be zero crime. It's honorary aryan shit.

he literally thinks all crime in japan is committed by """""non-japanese""""" (read: african dudes who, at this point, either have permanent residency, were born there to black parents, or are fucking slaves) harajuku street hawkers who try to get you to buy shoes from an off-main street store

Japan already has probably the strictest immigration controls of any G7 country. Around 3% of Japanese residents are immigrants, the majority of whom are Chinese or Vietnamese working class. The overwhelming majority of visas are for work or study. Spontaneous migration doesn't really exist in Japan. Also, Japan holds the authority to revoke permanent residency for things that wouldn't typically trigger deportation in most countries, even for people without permanent residency. Like failure to pay taxes or having too much medical debt. One scary one is that cops can demand to see a permanent residency card (zairyu card) and if you don't have it on your person, they can arrest you on the spot, fine you 100,000 yen, and then escort you to your residence to verify it exists. Failing to have it on your person enough times is apparently grounds for complete deportation.

Don't forget their native Ainu and Okinawan populations that still face discrimination today. And the Zainichi, who are descendants of Koreans forcibly sent to Japan as labor during their colonial period, and still live as second class citizens.

Yeah, that's what I was gesturing at with calling it a dogwhistle. He's saying Japan doesn't have crime because of strict immigration controls, and if it was even stricter they'd have no crime at all.

I don't know how a country would have stricter immigration controls than Japan without resorting to denying all entry at the border, is what I meant. They're already at the strictest level feasible for a modern liberal democracy.
